[PSV] Persona 4 the Golden
 

A remake of the PS2 game to be released for the Playstation Vita. Famitsu lists the following as new features.

3G and Wi-Fi support
New event scenes
Added Personas
Added character outfits
New character Marie, voiced by Kana Hanazawa. She's a "mysterious girl" who appears before the main characters.
When you're about to die in a dungeon, you can send a message seeking help to other players. It's not specified how this system will work exactly.
Additional anime movie scenes, with new voices
1.5 times the voice of the PS2 original
New song for the opening movie
An element that has been highly requested by fans

Joking aside, what big thing did the fans want that required a special edition?

The Help feature sounds a little silly, and the new persona and costumes aren't really worth buying the game again. Still, the inclusion of a new character could mean a new dungeon, and that means a new mystery which would be more than sufficient to increase my desire for buying the game.

Finally the news comes out. Sounds like it'll definitely be worth picking up down the road. New scenes, a new character (Japanese voice doesn't really matter unless they keep both voice tracks this time), and some mysterious element. I didn't really have a problem with the game so no idea what element they are talking about. Though seems they'll animate part of the onsen scene :heh:.

Expected that this was the announcement, but still good news. Like the additional voices and really being able to play the game on the go isn't bad.

hmm. it's intriguing but need more info on this new girl and if she has an overall impact on the plot itself.

I don't think normal social link character would have an event with main party member like what happened in the picture scans... so yeah, maybe she's kinda important.

The scans mention a new seaside town that can be visited via scooter. Sadly, this kind of excites me more than the idea of a new character... :heh:

I don't think this game will make its way outside Japan.

Lolwut. I hope you're joking. Atlus hasn't missed bringing a single Persona game overseas since Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Why would they stop now?

It's on the new Sony Vita and not a system that is dead in America like the PSP.

On that dead system Atlus have released Persona, Persona 3 Portable and are about to release Persona 2 IS.

Why wouldn't they release this?

since there is no fem mc. i am not surprised it have some sort new chapter after original game finises (AKA like FES) with marie as main character.

As for the "highly requested feature" maybe they'll finally allow you to manually choose the skills persona inherit when you fuse them?

There's 1.5x the vocal work of Persona 4, I'm sure the amount of text is also quite significant. She's probably a party member.. I don't see her just being an S-Link with her connection to the velvet room.

Implied, speculated connection. ;) Unless me hermitting atm missed info again lol Although to be fair, her description from the Famitsu page do reminded me of the Velvet Room's inhabitants aka Igor's lackeys, particularly Margaret/Theo.

Also to be fair, say she is a party member, even with additional scenes featuring her tying in to original party members (seems that she will at least appear in June? Zooming scan via ipod ahoy~) it is still hard to reach about 1.5x voice amount of the original. Or I'm just a bit iffy with the probability of her being some kind of Mary Sue... Thing, if she is a new Party member. :o

Possible relation with Elizabeth? Then perhaps the whole story might got changed because of the inclusion of this new character :heh: Unlike P3P where all the new characters doesn't seem that important with the main storyline :(

IIRC the initial leaks said that Marie was one of the new character]b\s]/b], also they might be doing events that take place afterwards, how they work that in though who knows.

Just speculation looking @ the designs on her bag and such.

I don't know, some people have been requesting a social link ending, so maybe they included that. If I get Vita later I may pick this up, depending what are the new features. But I have to agree, the new girl looks really cool.

Is it just me, or is the symbol on her purse the infamous "mysterious eye" of Persona 4?

I think the new feature is to have more control over what skill your fused Persona inherits.

Because doing it at random is totally not fun

I'm inclined to believe that Marie is related to the Velvet room because of her western name (Elizabeth, Margaret, Theodore, etc). Or she could be a transfer student or something. Japan seems to get a lot of those in the middle of the school year. >.>

Her hat has the symbol which is on Theodore's cap whilst her Bag has the same symbol as the ones on Theodore/Elizabeth's clothes.

Maybe she is Elizabeth in disguise :P ? Her outfit does have some similarities (sleeveless, gloves , collared) . Also, she did leave the velvet room in P4.

I dunno, P4 was a very well-wrapped up game. I can't think of anything they could add that would make me want to buy it again. New character? The old cast is complete.
