Spoiler for Episode 7:

ookamigirl 2012-11-22 14:46

The story about the schoolgirl continues.
Kogami taken off the case.
Well, at least that was to be expected considering..
That didn't stop Akane to discuss about the old case with him.
That Yoshika schoolgirl is seriously deranged...
She's gonna kill off most of her schoolmates.
It's a mystery how she hasn't been caught yet.

This series does not fail to provide us with disturbing imagery, mental OR actual.

I totally agree. I was always shocked when such imagery happens in Psycho-Pass, which is a success considering it's a Urobuchi's work after all, but it felt tame.
I can't believe Rikako has a deformed mentality, and her father always portrays nude girls getting dismembered. I have yet to learn a reason why she's so sadistic and fearful in the first place.

Mmm, wish we had more of the Enforcers in the episode, all of the other characters waxing poetic over art and the woes of society began to bore me after 10 minutes of it (yeah I know, I'm in the wrong place if I don't want that :P ). But hopefully now that the case is fully set-up we'll have more of the main cast next episode, surprised that we're following up a two episode arc with a three episode one already though, based on how the first couple of episodes went I thought we'd have a lot more stand alone stories this early on.

Dengar 2012-11-22 17:05

The individual arcs also segue into eachother well though. There are several arcs, but it feels like a single plot.

The case is moving slower than I expected. The investigation doesn't seem to have made any progress in this episode. If it did, then everything happened off-screen. It's slightly frustrating, as it feels like they were just rolling their thumbs the entire time, leaving the girl free to carry out more gruesome murders.

The second half of the ep focused exclusively on the killer(s), which was very interesting. Seems like our initial impression of Makishima being an anarchist was right. He appears to be highly critical of the current society. Eustress deficiency, decrease of the average lifespan... the society under the Sibyl system is indeed far from perfect. I find it quite foreboding that these informations are hidden from the public. And this is probably only the tip of the iceberg.

Kogami actually already has a lead on Makishima thanks to the late Sasayama. It's still not enough apparently, as he hasn't been able to find out anything about him these past three years. Not too surprising, Makishima most likely removed himself from the system in order to accomplish his somber deeds. I'm curious to learn what Kogami's plan to get Gino to put him back on the case is.

Akane got a little Kogami-service lol

After the sparring sequence, I did think "She is totally checking him out".

The plastination continues, and it's my guess that Rikako sees herself as carrying on the work of her father, but while he just drew grotesque images, she makes them flesh. Well, plastinated flesh.

Makishima's little discussion was pretty interesting too, and told us more about this world.

I was surprised she didn't even blush or anything. She's like an alien or something. lol

Yeah, she's using a disturbing medium to bring her daddy's work to life.

I think her telling him to hurry up and put a shirt on was a subtle way of showing her embarrassment. lol

Shinya had a nice comeback to her asking if he was human.

"Well paralyzers still work on me."

I'm not sure. She wasn't blushing or anything. It just seemed common sense to ask him to put a shirt on.

I don't know. I just think she seems too composed sometimes, like there's something suspicious about her.

Yeah, she does kinda seem unfazed at times. Maybe they'll tie that into the plot? Maybe all the stuff she's seen as an inspector is having an effect on her psycho-pass?

I thought that was her way of saying she was maybe not embarrassed but certainly distracted by him (I'm still amused that apparently the word "moe" is banned during planning out the show yet they have no problems with making Kogami take his shirt off xD)

Well they did give us Akane walking around in nothing but her panties in an earlier episode, so maybe they're just doing it to be fair lol.

And I find it ironic that moe is banned during planning but Akane has some pretty moe moments xD

I have a feeling that Urobuchi is once again describe himself in this episode.

I mean, how could you know about love if you don't know about fear?

Allium 2012-11-22 22:33

A rather slower-paced episode, but this time the focus turns to Rikako Oryo instead. With Urobuchi holding the reins, there's no shortage of disturbing imagery; if you found the one from the previous episode scary, then this episode has taken it up to a higher notch.

Turns out Rikako's father was an artist who used bodies of girls as motifs, depicting them in a very morbid, disturbing manner. And now we have Rikako, bringing these paintings to reality. What I found interesting was Rouichi Oryo's ideology, brought up by Makishima, which goes along the lines of something like 'by becoming aware of the cruelty in our human hearts, humans can foster goodwill, common sense, ability to reason, which can control the cruelty,' something like that, I really can't express it properly at the moment, but I find it very Urobuchi-esque.

Another point brought up by Makishima was the adverse effect of science and technology on society. Even in such an advanced society, the average human lifespan is decreasing, and the stress care which was given to Rouichi Oryo ended up causing his death. The way Makishima puts forth his words makes him seem like quite the anarchist, and with his deeds combined, a formidable opponent of the MWPSB and the Sibyl system.

Other than that, I liked the scene between Akane and Kougami. It was funny when she was staring at him. And no wonder Kougami wasn't upset when Ginoza took him off the case; he knew at some point that he and Akane would be needed.

Kogami is certainly a monster in HTH combat. I know those sparring drones probably aren't as hard as metal, but he's certainly beating the tar out of something designed to take punishment. It might come in handy if Kogami ever finds himself against an opponent he needs to take down, but that he can't use a Psycho pass against.

Some people just don't go luminescent at everything.
