Dark Souls (PS360)

Yes it is the unofficial sequel to From Software's Demon's Souls and King's Field series. This time it will be available on both HD twins (PS3/360).
The game will be published by Namco Bandai in the west, for both consoles. In japan From Software will be publishing the game themselves, and only on PS3.

Official international HP|Japanese HP
Official Japanese blog
The blog is maintained by FromSoftware and lists incoming patches and server issues and so on. It is worth checking out. Pretty sure that NB has something similar for the international crowd that they will launch in the future.

No port begging please!

I'm still loving Demon's Souls, I'll be importing this on release. The difficulty increase sounds delicious.

King Lycan 2011-02-01 14:59

Why couldn't it stay a PS3 exclusive :/ but i'm exicted none the less I loved Demon's Souls

Kafriel 2011-02-01 15:56

Sounds sweet, how much harder can they make a game? :)

Well if you move to japan you can only get the PS3 version. Money talks, and dev/publishers are still crying that production costs for HD games are high. Making it multiplatform means more or less free money. Since namco bandai (publisher for the west) is involved, they probably need every penny they can get their fingers on, seeing how their so-called high profile are being ignored by most gamers.

Maybe something like in God Hand, the better you play the harder the AI gets.

Kallen4life 2011-02-02 06:45

Well should be interesting to see how much harder they can make it. Though it'll definitely be a rough ride. But still looking forward to it.

More info this time from famitsu's homepage. Anoop has provided a sumamry in english on his webpage, andriasang.com.
This time we don't need to wait too long for a localisation, N-B announced that we in the west will see a release in 2011. Then again if the asian version has englsh option in it, i will import it.

Edge Meltdown 2011-02-02 15:09

if this becomes an official sequel of demon's souls I wonder if we can transfer our save files from the first game that way we might have a slight advantage with our stuff carried over...

also, I expect to see the reaper in this game :D

edit: okay, forget what I just said. I don't see this happening at all.

Woah look at those screenshots, great another giant ass knight DX

jonli 2011-05-12 00:54

God this looks freaking awesome. I know they're trying to keep that sense of isolation you get in Demon Souls but I honestly really fucking loved co-oping with my buddies back in Demon Souls. It was a pain in the ass too because we had to find each other's signatures and then use skype to chat. Let's hope they make it a bit easier this time.

Well, I remember an aptly named ensemble darkhorse with a tendency to impale.....

There's a puzzle that will reward you with a code for something in-game. Go to their official site and click on the ruins on the background until all of it glows.

http://preparetodie.com/

It should look like this.

Once you've got them all, you'll receive this message asking for an email address.

Finally you'll receive an email with the codes.

Kafriel 2011-05-12 11:54

Lmao, "take it and suffer the consequences"? From the few lines it sounds like FFVIII's Magic Lamp (used only once, don't get overconfident, etc.), probably summoning a big-ass monster that eats you before you can say "oh shi-!" :heh:

What the hell. I clicked around and it said that I failed and I'm locked out. They said that I can only retry again tomorrow. WOW. CHRIST. Did they have to go THAT far for even a bonus puzzle micro-game on their website!? Seriously prepare to die my friends. :heh:

I couldn't even figure out what the puzzle was and I already failed. Would you be so kind as to tell me what exactly I'm suppose to do or click?

October 11 Launch Date

A day later we get the launch date and it won't be affected by the PSN outage :D

They were referring to the key/code "used only once". I'm guessing the "don't get overconfident" was directed at the overall game.

The key/code is suppose to unlock a gift that will give you a lead advantage. It would be cool if the gift was the sword and armor on the front page though. The image itself looks like the guy in armor is offering the sword.

Gladly, in the beginning you are given 5 chances and on your 5th chance if you get it wrong you will be Fail (obviously). I should probably explain it from the beginning.

The puzzle is a random guessing game, there are no clues to this puzzle. It's all about taking random guesses and hopefully you'll get the right one before your chances are up.

There's a way to avoid the long wait till you get to try it again, clear the individual cookies for that site. You'll be brought to the DoB page and start everything over again. That will give you infinite attempts on the puzzle.

A good way to tackle this puzzle is to not use up all your chances and refresh the page. The order of the glow will remain the same everytime you refresh the page (so try to remember which order it was).

For example at the beginning you are given 5 chances, the first glow is a given (it lights up like every 2 seconds. Say you found the 2nd glow on your 3rd chance, after your 4th chance hit refresh (cause if you miss on your 5th chance you get auto locked out again). Now everything resets but you know where the first two are. Click the two in the same order and now you still have 5 chances. Use another 4 and refresh.

Continue this method, it'll give you enough chances to look for the right glow. It's paramount that you remember the order, considering there are 30 signs altogether. Oh btw, your chances decreases as you unlock more glow. Be careful not to get locked out.

Everytime you clear your cookies, you get a new set. So remembering the last set won't do you any good. Some people say if you don't clear your cookies (for that site) and wait to the next day, the order will remain the same... maybe.

Kyero Fox 2011-05-13 00:55

Well I'm 13 runes in... apparently at 13 ruins you get 1 chance.
