Malware in advertisment?

Today when I was visiting the AnimeSuki home page my avast! Free Antivirus shows a pop-up saying "Malware Blocked avast! Web Shield has blocked a harmful webpage or file." along with the following information.

Object: http://ad.harrenmedianetwork.com/st?...ection=1406067
Infection: HTML:lframe-inf
Action: Connection aborted
Process: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe

It also blocks the connection when visiting the forums when not logged in. I didn't see any mention about this when I searched this section of the forums. Is this simply a false positive?

Yes, this does look like a false positive, since my copy of Avast doesn't flag this forum, so we can be reasonably sure that this forum isn't infected (it's probably one of the ad rotators). Anyway, since you are a forum member, you shouldn't see any of the ads when logged in. :D

Okay I don't see Avast! reporting problems anymore when I visit the site so either the definitions were updated or the ad rotator was fixed.

I wouldn't be so sure about that since if that company is one of your ad rotators then I'd suggest getting rid of them since they are known as distributors of malware by hphosts.

Aye... or at least notify the ad rotator about the flagged ad .... if the ad rotator is at all legit, they'll simply pull the ad out of the rotation and tell the creator to rewrite it.

I've replaced the Harren Media banners (which are a legitimate company btw, as they did pay out) with something "else" :)

The only problem is that the new banners (which are 100% guaranteed safe) are affiliate banners, which means that we only get paid if somebody signs up (and not just clicks on the banner). So I'll have to see whether this will work out in the long run.

As usual no ads are shown on the forum to logged in users. On the site (torrent index) the banners are now at the bottom of the page (as CR doesn't seem to have normal affiliate banners - only big rectangles & small buttons). On the forum I've moved them to inside the first post of a page of a thread and a button on the bottom the page.
