... since when is Maaya just a bystander? She even scored a (former) master kill, which is more than what I can say for a lot of other participants.

ookamigirl 2012-05-19 12:13

Kiritsugu sure got a nice gift from his wife Iri/the vessel.
Avalon... a tool for revenge or means to end this war.
It was still sad watching Kiritsugu with his emotionless face.
That guy sure had a lot of tragedy in his life, even too much..

Proto 2012-05-19 12:17

And now it is becoming clearer and clearer why the flashback was placed in such a seemingly awkward place. Watching Kiritsugu do anything has become a painful afair,

Yeah, when he cries at Maiya, he had that childish expression like a kid loses his mother. Seriously. It just shows that this is the same Kiritsugu who had through everything in the past episodes.

And we have some fanservice in this episode with naked Kariya:heh:. But really, that Zouken is really evil. Forcing Kariya to eat the worm that feeds on Sakura's virginity?! That's really wicked and evil on different levels, Kariya's screams really broke my heart:(.

About the Rider, I already know vague spoilers, but it still surprises me that Rider appears to kidnap Iri. Can't wait for next episode.

hero147 2012-05-19 12:59

Kiritsugu just can't seem to catch a break...I think he and kariya are the only people I'm going to root for...Screw rider.

kk2extreme 2012-05-19 13:10

So many pretty female characters died in several eps straight :uhoh:

Sola, Shirley, Natalia, now Maaya, looks like Iri is next...

1. Maiya is not a bystander
2. Rider is/was one of the best general of his time period. This is good tactics, nothing more nothing less.

ars89 2012-05-19 13:11

Oh man feel bad for Kariya. Waver and RIder's talk was nice. Oh man right when Iri was telling Maiya to live she get's taken out.

Even so with the way Rider is portrayed in the anime, he doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who would choose to kidnap Iri to fight Saber. Even Saber was surprised when she saw Rider with Iri.
And uhm, as far as we know the only one who knows the location of Kiritsugu's team is Kirie, so yeah we'll have to wait and see what's going on here.

Eragon 2012-05-19 13:55

Before the last 5 minutes of this episode I was going to say that it had a lot of unnecessary dialogue between Maiya and Iri. But as it turns out very few things in Fate Zero are unnecessary. Though I have to say I didn't think Rider would kill Maiya. That was a surprise - or perhaps he was counting on Saber to heal her.

The misery just piles on Kiritsugu - one tragedy after another(except for the nine year break in between). I think Shakespeare would have fallen in love with this guy.

And that old fugly bastard - Zouken - is disgusting on so many levels. It takes quite an effort on my part to not hit the screen when he appears.

One question - Why is Sakura's virginity involved in extracting her life force?:twitch: - Or have I got it wrong?

Craxuan 2012-05-19 14:06

Well, that is an answer you should discover by yourself in Fate/Stay Night... Provided that you can withstand the truth that is.

Or you can search Sakura Matou at Type Moon Wiki. Saves so much time lawl.

It's at least as bad as you think it is, and probably worse.

Flawfinder 2012-05-19 14:10

The more I watch Fate/Zero, the more I realize that it's one of those series that is better to watch all at once than weekly. A bunch of the episodes individually are really slow, but when you put them together, the series really shines.

Broskander 2012-05-19 14:19

Being Kiritsugu is painful.

jeroz 2012-05-19 14:23

well, my point was that Rider was never been portrayed as a ruthless character. If you think about his previous acts he's the least likely person you would think to kill someone. That scene is just so out of character

Broskander 2012-05-19 14:24

*Tempted to spoil everything*

willyvereb 2012-05-19 14:31

Like others said this episode was like the continuation of the flashbacks.
Much exposition, conversation and character development.

Spoiler for the current episode and a bit more:

Well, you can always do that in PMs, on demand.

Or in the QnA thread if you follow the usual rules.

But man, at this stage posting spoilers may ruin everything to casual watchers. I mean really-really.
IMO, the second half of the final volume was the best part of the entire Fate/Zero Light Novel. The part we're at right now.
