Rurouni Kenshin (live action)
Hmm, a quick search didn't turn up any discussion threads for this.
If there is already one, please disregard and close the thread. :heh: Trailer: Posters: http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/6392/0ea6802ds.jpg http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/626/8ea30e5fs.jpg |
Hey, Kamen Rider Den-O guy playing Kenshin! Hahahahahah!
That said, I am quite impressed with how detailed Kenshin is portrayed in the film. They even include the infamous "Oro"! I am just a tad bit worried about the number of characters. How much plot and characters are they planning to cram in this movie? |
Must. Watch. D:
Yeah, the movie looks promising. I'm a huge fan of Rurouni Kenshin. XD I couldn't imagine Satou Takeru as Kenshin though, until I saw the screenshots and the trailer. |
Haha, looks a bit low-budget. Not very good choreography. I wonder why it is that Japanese action films can't reach the level of wuxia.
|
I'm one to prefer movies like these than the supposedly artistic wuxia. In fact, I detest all the focus on choreography when a movie is void of plot.
|
The bad thing is the plot of Kenshin is not so complicated so the underwhelming choreography will just make the movie worse.
Choreography is a very important point specially in movies like these, I dislike the whole; we fight inhuman such as the grass running scene and the slow jump from extreme height with obvious wires in the trailer it makes it a lot less real. A proper choreography could really lift this up to amazing standards but alas they didn't do that. It looks like a general tv series; predictable plot, fun characters that are maybe a little over the top and extremely predictable, medium fight scenes. I like the color grading in shots but that as well is nothing special and over used in movies and tv series. |
i think it would have work better with the flashback arc, a short condense story with a ton of blood and drama.

ORE SANJOU!!! SWORD FORM!!! oh wait.....

on contary HK movies usually has good fighting / action scene but really bad storywise. still movie quality look better than I thought, even though the fight scene is a bit silly, well not like the fight in the manga version was any better. |

They should do a Hokuto no Ken or Jojo's Bizarre adventure when it comes to action films - bishounen heroes are damn lame as compared to their manly-hunky-super-muscular counterparts.

Ooops Sorry! I have written the review of Rurouni Kenshin movie in
Recent movies you watched thread. Please see it.. Gomen gomen. |

"It's time for some action!" |
People talking about Wukia Pian like they are good or something is hilarious. Those films look like a videogame.
These are good films: Ran http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbbfDntoRRk Harakiri http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRp1tUHpWNs Seven Samurai http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNqQXC8Tv8U Yojimbo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzFq5hOlZ5s Rashomon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCZ9TguVOIA Sansho Dayo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=076MrMynyak Tasogare Seibei http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sEdxb3I3dk Ame Agaru http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnh7l1pngU8 Kenshin is a good character and you could do so much more with him and his relationship with Kaoru. When the characters behave like real people the fight scenes are more dramatic as well, you don't need 20 minutes of choreographies to tell that a character is a skilful swordsman. For example: Ame Agaru Fight Scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvNCznBhSlE The Black Hood fight scene with Tomisaburo Wakayama http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJlDeAwM8-c Twilight Samurai duel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuX3B9OFiLA Gohatto sparring scenes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekCiMFNLU5o Sometimes less is more. |
The general critical buzz is good, and so is the box office. Anything that's good for the franchise is good for prospects of seeing Jinchu animated at last.
|
any spoilers for the movie? did they battle Shishio?
|
If the movie is a success, is there a possibility that they might do a second movie focusing on other arcs?
|
its on the top charts of japanese box office - http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...-in-1st-5-days
so its on the road to success already |
Since the second trailer haven't been posted here yet, here it is:
