Well, this looks like it might be right up my alley at a very, very cursory glance. Any more info on this one?

ninryu 2012-07-25 06:31

Is there any synopsis out?

NoemiChan 2012-07-25 06:44

Update:

It's a 5 minute anime.... Now I see the trends are going....

Flower 2012-07-25 16:51

Phooey ... well, maybe it'll be a good one nonetheless.

Plot summary announced :
The story revolves around an energetic middle school girl named Nanafa Kyan. Nanafa lives in Okinawa with her grandmother who runs the "Kame Soba" soba shop, her beautiful older sister Nao who is in high school, and her younger sister Kokona, who is in elementary school and has a strong ability to sense the supernatural.

One day, Nanafa witnesses a seal fall off of a Chinese banyan tree, and three spirits who live in that tree are unleashed. These spirits include Niina and Raana, who are "jimunaa" spirits. The third spirit is Iina, who is an incarnation of an Okinawan lion statue. As spirits start appearing one after another, the peaceful life of Nanafa and her family begins to change.

Confirmed for a 5 min series? That sucks but I'll still watch it.

On that synopsis, their names seem to have quite a few of those "a" syllable. Is this part of being an Okinawan?

That explains why the show sets in Okinawa and is made by and for Okinawan audiences. I can safely assume that Okinawa is basically the Hawaii of Japan :D

Haitai Nanafa is getting a second season. (Supposedly, the broadcaster in Okinawa is trying to get the series aired internationally, too.)

Chiaki_chan 2013-03-17 00:35

I love this anime :p

Chiaki_chan 2013-06-10 15:30

season 1 is very funny but and season 2??

there is no raw and eng sub?? normally he should see are 9 episodes of season 2, but there is nothing ...
:(

Huh, yeah, looking through pretty much all of the English accessible sites and there's really nothing.

Looking at the Japanese official site and it would appear that the second season is almost finished airing... in Okinawa. Which is actually the issue. It's only airing there. We got the first season when it ran on AT-X a season later. (This ended up working a bit like the pre-air runs on NicoNico)

Seems we'll just have to wait. I do hope we see it though, as this series was really good and, amazingly, quite high production values for a 3 minute short.
