would this be a weird poster for a guy to put in his room?

Im looking to decorate my room a little bit and i want to buy a poster like this
http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl...26%252Bwolf%25
Do you think that would be weird for a guy to have in his room?

Random32 2012-11-01 23:13

Depends on who you ask.

Assuming you live in the average US town, it would be quite weird, though don't let that stop you from putting up stuff you like.

NinjaRealist 2012-11-01 23:27

To the average uninformed westerner...

Anime = Hentai = Disgusting Tentacle Rape = Child Porn

Sadly, there are a lot of people who would judge you for that poster.

Random32 2012-11-01 23:54

People judge you for doing anything that isn't perfectly normal.

The proverb "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down" applies in full force pretty much anywhere. Where has anyone been bullied for being normal?

Calca 2012-11-02 00:27

If you're in jr. high or high school, yes people are dicks at that age.

If you're older like late college, people don't care and like you for you.

Chiibi 2012-11-02 02:05

Not at all. There's nothing objectionable in the poster. GO FOR IT.
Do not be ashamed of your fandom!

I strongly disagree that is an average uninformed westerner's reaction.

From my experiences, it's more

Anime=Pokemon=stuff for kids and geeks="Oh you're into that stuff? So is my son/daughter/niece/nephew"

But what the hell is "normal"? You can't define it anymore. Not today at least. Things that "geeks" love, comics and the like, are becoming so mainstream. What's any different from an adult who loves The Avengers movies than one who loves anime?
Not much.
Here's a laugh: I live in Pittsburgh and compare Steelers fans to anime fans....and I can tell you in a heartbeat which group acts more "normal".

I've got a pile of Madoka, K-ON, Working, Ore no Imouto and Zelda posters/tapestries in my room (soon to add iDOLM@STER). The big jump's putting up the first one. Once you realize that people don't exactly care enough to press what it is, putting up more and more gets easier.

Don't worry, even if people are judgmental, it's very easy to play off. It's best if you value your own interests over what others say you should like, but in times of trouble it's easy to get them to just not care.

Sorry I was just joking.

Serious answer, be yourself TS.

If people give you crap than to hell with them. But someone will probably give you crap eventually.

Akito Kinomoto 2012-11-02 10:27

What.

There's much worse that anyone could advertise in their room. But most of all, I do seriously wonder why some anime fans act like they need approval from people outside of their fandom. Who cares if the uninitiated find it strange? Besides, it's pretty telling if someone judges you for what you like instead of who you are.

Haikea 2012-11-02 10:31

Technically Holo (Horo means whore in finnish) has a bit weird face in that poster. I wouldn't use it because of that.

People should do what they like to maintain their good mood better. Many things are and were weird for many people, but they become normal when repeated enough with higher and higher support. Some people seems to require social support before they can accept some things.

ninryu 2012-11-02 11:02

What's weird about that poster? I have a poster of Tsuna from Reborn in my room, my brother got lots of loli posters in his room, and my friends don't even blink when they see them.

willx 2012-11-02 11:48

In all seriousness .. from the perspective of probably .. oh 95% of the population?

Yes. You can be yourself, you can like what you like, but most people will think it's weird.

Good answer. :)

I seriously don't see why they would.
It's just a piece of art. Who's to say which type of art is "weird"?

Archon_Wing 2012-11-02 14:27

Let's just say you could do far worse than that. :heh:

hyl 2012-11-02 15:49

Seeing that the average poster in Megami is far worse than your poster, i shouldn't be that bothered with it.

Jan-Poo 2012-11-02 16:44

While I agree with those who says you should just decorate your room however you like, I think this is really the wrong forum to ask whether an anime poster will be perceived as "weird" or "acceptable" by some random person, if that's what you care about.

We are all anime fan here, there's no way we can see that image as something weird. And we can't really imagine how a non anime fan would react without applying our biases.

In contrast, if you live in a large US city -- no one will give a crap.

But yea, those rural folk...

bhl88 2012-11-02 16:48

A: That's not normal.
Reply: Define, "normal"

jdennis007 2012-11-03 10:52

Slap a couple of sports posters around it and no one will notice or even care.
