Temperatures

My PC is running fine, but I am worried about this 3rd temperature shown on SpeedFan and CPUID.

CPUID :TMPIN2 is 50c Value and Max I have seen is 70c, Min is 35c.
SpeedFan: Temp3 51c Value.

All my other temperatures stay below 40c so I am wondering what component this is and why is it so hot. I have researched and people say its the Northbridge?

I am not too sure so that's why I am making this thread any insight will be great thanks

70C isn't hot if the CPU is under load. You've got nothing to worry about.

Screenshot of CPUID?

Also, try open hardware monitor.

On gigabyte motherboard, TMPIN2 is the VRM (most of the time).

Easier overview; install Speccy, make screenshot and post it.

CPUID Hardware monitor that's what I am using. Also my motherboard is a Gigabyte 990-fxa.

70c is the max temperature. I downloaded Speccy, but it doesn't show anything new. It doesn't show the high temperature I see in CPUID and Speedfan.

Any ideas?

Are you also using a stock/OEM heatsink on the processor?

I was also told that the core temperature is more important.

It's the VRM (little black thing under an heatsink at the left of the cpu) temp.

Which model of 990fxa? (990fxa-ud3) If yes, the temp are in range for a badly ventilated case and stock cpu heatsink.

Is your CPU overclocked? What is the model?

Ak3mi 2013-03-03 17:15

Yes its the ud3. I use a corsair heatsink cant remember what its called, its not the H series though. My cpu is overclocked as well, not sure why that effects it as its usually around 25c-30c idle and 35c-40c when in photoshop/games. The cpu is amd Phenom II x4 965 black edition.

My heatsink is very big, would that be blocking the air in the case? If so I will just get a new one :/ Or maybe change around my fans? This temperature hasn't caused any problems, but could it later on?

spikexp 2013-03-03 18:17

Worst case, you have an A50, which will not cause problem.
What is your case?

The vrm (Voltage regulator module) regulate the voltage to the CPU. When you overclock, you increase the voltage.

You won't have any problem with the VRM on this motherboard, they are of quality, the temperature isn't catastrophic.

My case is a CM 690 II White. What is a A50?

Sorry still learning! Should I lower my OC then?

King Lycan 2013-03-03 19:39

How far have you overclocked it ?

Ak3mi 2013-03-03 20:39

its at 4.1ghz from 3.4ghz. I don't think I really need that much power any more.

The a50 is the lower-end corsair aircooler.
As long as your CPU temp are under control, you will not have any problem with your vrm temp on the motherboard.

Ak3mi 2013-03-03 21:10

Ok. I guess I will lower my Overclock too just because I probably wont notice the difference :p Thanks for the responses everyone :)
