So this is where all the budget from 1st season went to.

And just song for friends is enough to make me tear up. ;_;

Ah what a beautiful episode....

Cloudenvy 2013-10-19 10:02

Song For Friends? Screw you, Refrain. :upset:

Nachtwandler 2013-10-19 10:42

So that's all for Yuiko's ark? I hoped for more. But still. Rin's route and Refrain is coming

:twitch: Is this really the same JC that did season1??

I teared up so much TT__TT

Yuiko's smile is <3<3<3<3 http://i.imgur.com/Yvr7yvG.gifI died <3

But, to tell the truth this ep won't be as emotional to anime only watchers.
It's gonna affect VN players more imo.

Bravo JC! Bravo!! Brilliantly done!
And they did it without romance too. I didn't expect them to be able to pull it off but they did wonderfully :*)

This is so much better than any of the arc in season 1. And it seems like this will tie up nicely with Refrain. Anego seemed to be aware of the secret of the world and exploited it to create this time loop. With the way she bid farewell to Riki, I'm guessing they're actually in some sort of limbo and everybody there is dead save for Riki and Rin (she told him to protect her).

In case anyone is wondering, Refrain has been confirmed for 13 episodes. Anyway...

I was concerned about Refrain being announced to be thirteen episodes...... Then I watched episode 3 and I forgot what I was concerned about or that I was concerned about anything for that manner.

Yye1 2013-10-19 13:14

Next ep will be the start of the main Refrain arc i guess

That's because most of you were overestimating the number of episodes required for Refrain. It is really not on the same league as AS, especially AS anime was filled with 2-3 non AS routes.

ChampDream 2013-10-19 14:55

that was really sad and beautiful, didn't really see that coming, I guess this arc was like a prelude to refrain.

Eater of All 2013-10-19 15:52

I like this adaptation more than the actual arc in the game. GJ JC and staff.

Spoiler for Comparison to Clannad After Story:

Snuffle 2013-10-19 16:04

The mood shifting was done beautifully for once during a heroine arc. I seriously forgot JC Staff was doing this. :uhoh: Are the directors different for this season or are they just trying that much harder? It's a shame that it couldn't be this way from the beginning of the entire story. :(

Triple_R 2013-10-19 16:27

This episode had truly magnificent visual, audio, and seiyu work. Yes, it's definitely amazing that JC Staff did this. I never imagined they could capture Key-style so well.

However... Plot-wise, I have almost no idea what is going on. I've learned to largely roll with Key's tendency towards wild and magical supernatural-ism, but it still hinders my emotional engagement a bit when my mind just keeps going "What the hell is going on?!" and no clear answers are forthcoming. :heh:

For that reason, I took off a point and rated this episode 9/10.

Klashikari 2013-10-19 16:30

I have a lot of mixed feelings regarding the presentation here.
While I liked how the world represented by the radio room was more and more engulfed by the snow, I just wish the director wasn't so obsessed by using awkward rectangular cut of previous scenes fading on screen. That's rather cheap and old fashioned...

Anyhow, considering how Yuiko's arc was obviously used as a cornerstone for the next arc, I guess its purpose was on spot, albeit making things even more obvious on the long run.

I'm a little disappointed that they didn't mention Kurugaya's other name in the anime.

Spoiler for No spoilers, just content from Kurugaya's route in the VN that was skipped:

I'm clueless to what has happened just now what makes this less tragic in my eyes.

Also Anego was always smiling during whole season 1. It is kinda hard to take her words seriously when they were never shown to be true until this flashback.

Yuiko's claim is actually foreshadowed considering how she laughs: it is kind of artificial and unnatural, hence why it sounds a bit weird. That being said the anime also skipped many parts where she just "doesn't compute" what Masato and Kengo are talking about when doing the idiots, and there were other instances she is a tad clueless for "weird reason".
