Amazon Japan, in the description for its listing of the October issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine, lists that Naoshi Arakawa's Farewell, My Dear Cramer (Sayonara Watashi no Cramer) manga is getting a film adaptation and a television anime adaptation.
Plot Summary:

Quote:

With no soccer accomplishments to speak of during the entirety of Sumire Suo's junior high school years, the young wing gets an odd offer. Suo's main rival, Midori Soshizaki, invites her to join up on the same team in high school, with a promise that she'll never let Suo “play alone.” It's an earnest offer, but the question is whether Suo will take her up on it. Thus the curtain opens on a story that collects an enormous cast of individual soccer-playing personalities!

Hope it won't have as much forced drama as ShiGatsu had.

You can count me too :heh:

What's a Cramer anyway? Google isn't giving me much (doesn't help it's a french word)

A quick Google search led me to Dettmar Cramer, the father of modern football in Japan.

Xical 2020-09-01 10:48

... and Sayonara football?

It's a sport manga, not a drama. It's about girls' football.

Btw, the plot summary is kinda misleading. The main character isn't Suo, it's Onda who was also the MC in the prequel Sayonara Football.

It's the prequel. But this one is better. It's longer and has more characters and there's more football.

You know, the serties being spocon does not exclude the opportunity to add a lot of drama in the plot. Just take recent Aiharu no Sora or Hanebad (though, with the second one it was 90% adaptation fault) for example.

I really hated ShiGatsu so I am a bit cautios regarding this one.

Despite thinking of Kramer first, somehow it hadn't occurred to me it was a real person's name so I was searching for possible definitions of the word :heh:

Announcement trailer.

Video list the show to premiere in April (Spring) 2021 next year

From the PV, I see the adaptation is gonna take material from the prequel (Sayanara Football) to better flesh out Onda's character development. That's cool.

It's also nice to see the anime is gonna focus on Onda from the get go. The manga tries to pull some pointless bait and switch by introducing Suo and Midori first. Kind of a waste of time if you ask me.

They are making a movie based on prequel and TV based on the main manga.

Oh, so that's what's happening. Too bad we might not get to see the movie before the tv show. That's gonna suck.

Epiode 1. As part of growing up, I find it interesting how they're exploring the teen years of these characters, especially Nozomi. It's about making choices including the club to join.

Fresh off from this episode, I like the youthful look of the cast. We got introduction of the main characters and their designs looks similar to Shigatsu, given that the work is by the same author.

I think Nozomi is likable character so far given her friendly personality. There's also soccer themes in this show and I want to see how that will play as part of the main storytelling.

When I was growing up, my dad was the varsity soccer coach at the school where he taught. This was in the early 70s, so we're talking boys soccer, of course. And in Indiana in the early 70s, it meant they sometimes had to go out of the state to find other schools they could play.

Onda is the girl with the ponytail, right? The one we see leaving middle school at the beginning? That made me think she was the main character, and then I couldn't understand why they'd suddenly shifted the show's attention over to the other two girls.

Hard to believe it's already been 10 years since Japan won the Women's World Cup.

Some much needed female-centric sports anime, finally.

Yeah, she's the main character.

Because the first chapter of the manga is almost entirely dedicated to those two. It's a bait and switch. Makes you think they're the main characters, only for Onda to take the spotlight from chapter 2 onwards.
