PV is out. Looks like your typical shonen sports anime  :

Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread)

Blaat 2021-12-06 12:45

I checked out the reddit thread of the PV out of sheer boredom and took a look at the voice cast list:

Eve (CV: Akari Kito)
Aoi Amawashi (CV: Asami Seto)
Amane Shinjo (CV: Ami Koshimizu)
Lily Lipman (CV: Akira Sekine)
Reiya Amuro (CV: Toru Furuya)
Leo Millafoden (CV: Shuichi Ikeda)

Now I have to watch this for the Gundam references. :heh:

Additional cast, ending song announced

Here's the summary from the official website announced months ago

Quote:

Nafres, a country in Europe.
Eve, who has a genius golf skill, spends her days earning money by betting golf for her life.
One day, she meets the elite golfer Aoi Amawashi, the daughter of a large company.

Two geniuses living in a completely different world.

It was only one shot that shot through each other's hearts.

Eve of the "Rainbow Bullet" and Aoi, an innocent tyrant who enjoys playing golf purely without pressure.
The two are attracted to each other, influenced by each other, and change.
A golf girls story where talents collide with each other.

Episode 1 was out in Japan yesterday.

Guardian Enzo 2022-04-06 03:39

Well, that was atrocious.

How and why?

Bad CGI, ridiculous premise, and degrading. Plus zero sports realism.

What do you mean by degrading? I have yet to watch it, however if you refer to degrading as in how it presented its sex appeal-lined fanservice, then you should have been warned given who will be directing this work (Takayuki Inagaki).

Sports anime excels on Heightened Reality. Of course it is unrealistic.

I found the first episode to be very successful and engaging as a sports anime. There's always Adachi's works out there for people who want realism in their Japanese sports media.

This is closer in line with most sports anime/manga, that strive to be entertainment first and a love letter to a sport/activity second. The sports anime that play themselves absolutely serious in-universe while being slightly ridiculous. Keijo!!!!!!!!, Happy! (Urasawa Naoki), Prince of Tennis, etc.

Straightforward and simplified character archetypes to account for a presumably exhaustive cast, competitive and charismatic leads, the action is front and center, and closing out the first episode with initiating a rivalry from a chance encounter.

It's dumb and it is wonderful.

I mean, one would hope you could have a golf story without taking basically the Charlie's Angels approach with the female characters. It's not that shocking in that most original sports anime these days pretty much objectify the main cast, irrespective of gender. Still, another jewel in the crown for this show.

To each their own, obviously. I thought this was dreck, awful on pretty much every level.

Obelisk ze Tormentor 2022-04-06 06:04

Of course this anime has a Gundam reference! Of course!! :p

I mean, how can you not? You have Amuro & Char in your cast after all :heh:.

Yeah, I don't know what Enzo is smoking. Maybe he was just in a bad mood when he watched it. I mean, bad CGI? For what? The ball, the arena & the faraway audience? That's par for the course for sports anime nowadays. Also, degrading in what way? The female characters are not flaunting their bodies. This is BN Pictures right? The "fanservice" is as tame as they get (so far). As for realism, I don't know about your tolerance but this episode is as realistic as Captain Tsubasa and I can easily take that especially in a genre that has Prince of Tennis & Kuroko which are much much more eye-rolling.

Anyway, this episode is pretty good. The animation is nice. The colors are vibrant & the overal direction is competent. We have a downtrodden protags who only do golf for money to survive. They're taking bets with various (shady) men to score big, and even do some Mission Impossible to get the job done early in the episode (where did they get such convincing mask? Did they win a bet with Tom Cruise? :uhoh:). And now we have Aoi, someone from the rich elite side, actually able to put up a challenge against Eve. Interesting hook for next episode.

And I say why not?

I don't know about you but golf is one of the most boring sports to watch & follow if you're not into the sport in the first place. What this show did is not far from something like Megalo Box: To have major conflicts other than the sport itself to attract audience outside of the sport fandom

Guardian Enzo 2022-04-06 07:08

I was in a great mood until I sat through that episode...

Maybe it would indeed have more appeal to someone who hates golf. Sadly, I don't.

Yu Ominae 2022-04-06 08:11

I think it can be moved. CR is streaming it.

Kazu-kun 2022-04-06 08:37

Well, it wasn't so bad, but it wasn't good either. Also, my only real issue with it is that I don't like the MC. I can't stand cocky characters who believe themselves the best from the get go. I wouldn't mind it too much if she was a rival character or something, but having that kind of character as MC.... yeah, it's not for me.

I didn't hate the Japanese girl though, but I wouldn't keep watching just for her.

Isn't that what Anos Voldigoad is? Yet people love him. He is super-mega-ultra-confident in his skills coz no character (not even his archrival) has proven him wrong. Same thing with Eve.

If Aoi can defeat Eve in a match, that might provide a lesson for Eve going forward.

Good for them, whoever they are. I was pointing out my personal beef with the show though.

I'd welcome that. Not holding my breath though.

Not exactly most entertaining first episode, but I give it few more because those are some nice legs.
