Holy fuck.
The 64 trillion dollar question, of course, is what will this be? Another original atrocity by Okada? A straight adaptation of Hokkaido? Something starting with Jinchu, or even a full reboot? I like the Hokkaido arc, but Jinchu never having been adapted is one of the great puzzling atrocities of Shounen anime. I suspect we’ll get screwed again here, but at this point it’s all conjecture. |
It's LIDEN FILMS. Don't expect great animation and save yourself from disappointment.
I'm just glad the live-action movies already did the Jinchu arc well. |
If I get Jinchu at last I honestly don’t even care that much about the animation.
|
Woah. Great news. I hope for a Jinchu arc with the same cast, but I guess new adaptation isn't out of question either. As long as Jinchu arc gets it's justice eventually.

Either would be fine by me, but if I were putting money on it I'd bet it's a straight Hokkaido adaptation.
|
As long it doesn't take the Haikyuu Hoshin Engi way, no problem.
|
As to the question of director, depending on the timing of this Furuhashi may be occupied by SxF and unable to do it. If so - and assuming the content it covers is actually something worth caring about - I would 100% vote for Hamasaki Hiroshi. His sensibility is perfect for RK, and he obviously showed with Immortal that he can do wonders with a minimal budget.

Hokkaido getting animated without doing Jinchu is plausible because Hokkaido doesn't really need knowing about the events of Jinchu to be understandable IIRC. Technically all you need is Kyoto Arc.
That said, I'm also one of those who thinks the Hokkaido arc wasn't really needed, in a sense. Jinchu was a proper ending to Himura's story that allowed him some degree of closure to one of the last remaining threads tying him to his past life. |

I assume you mean Reflections, because that OVA technically bastardized the ending with it's own original version that was in many areas a disservice to Kenshin and Kaoru's elder days together, and in the process gave us a sad excuse for a Jinchu story in the process. I'd argue that Trust and Betrayal helped me better understand just who Himura is, the demons that he would eventually face, and is one of my favorite OVAs of all time.

Didn't think this would happen, despite shounen jump properties being hot right now, simply because the author was caught with child pornography. Although I suppose being the senpai of Oda will give you some leeway in Japan.
Not going to lie, still looking forward to this. |

"OMG! There's multiple Tomoe tease in filler, does this mean we will got Jinchu arc? Enishi and Tomoe on anime style? Perfect." Answered by "Well, yes, but actually no" with Trust & Betrayal :heh: I expected this will be reboot of early arc just so they can recast the characters. Sounds like the most logical take as by doing so they can safekeeping Kyoto (and maybe Jinchu) for better studio and budget. :p |

A full remake would be nice. Fruits Basket got one, Dragon Quest is getting one, so it feels like these things might become more common. Of course, picking up where the previous anime left off is fine too, but they may want to attract a new audience with this anime and you can't do that by making it about the final arc.
I don't read Hokkaido so not sure if that's as good as the original or not. |

It's not bad though - pretty good, in fact. That said, if the two options were the ones you describe, I would be a very happy camper. Unfortunately there's also "other" - adapting only the Hokkaido arc or worse yet, another original disaster. And if I were pegging a favorite I think Hokkaido-only would be it, though that may be my natural pessimism and disgust with the production committee system talking. |
yeah there is a lot of anime who are getting full adaptation remake, from hxh to now shaman king, this would be nice.
coming soon, slam dunk remake. |
