Are you by chance using Windows XP and have the in-built firewall activated (willingly or not?)

R3dEX 2004-08-15 17:55

yeah i'm using xp
but i dont know if i have a built in firewall but i turned the firewall where you have to go to the network connections to disable it

That is probably referring to the Windows XP firewall. Just to make sure I created a picture to illustrate it. Click on the thumbnail for the full sized version:

Yeah thats it, i disabled it
but nothin happen

What about the Windows XP SP2? (Service Pack 2) If you installed that update look here Final Release of SP2 Discussion/FAQ's. Unfortunately it will cause trouble with BitTorrent because it will only allow a maximum of 10 TCP/IP connections as well as re-enabling the firewall when it is installed.

I dont know about that but is there any other ways you can help?

I don't think the Windows XP SP2 has been released yet, but besides the XP firewall, it could be that your ISP has a firewall built in, or you have some firewall software (but I'm sure you'd know about that)

Just a little comment of SP2 not being released. It is released but it isnt for the main stream user yet. I guess they are waiting for compliants and fixing unexpected bugs.
