Is this a flaw by bit torrent or is it just my comp?

Is it possible to defragmate your computer with bit torrent files stored? What is this allocated file stuff i read about? After a long experience, I defraged my computer one day and then my hard drive crashed. I read some where that you can no longer defrag with torrent files stored. Is this rumor true? :hmm:

That rumor is not true, there is no way that a unfinished bittorrent file could brake a harddrive.

The reason harddrive breaks often happens during defrag is that defrag puts some extra stress on the drive as it has to read/write all over the drive for a long time period. This extra stress can break a harddrive IF it was already very close to breaking, the defrag is just the one extra thing that takes it over the edge. Having bittorrent files have no influence on this.

defraging too often will really spoil your day because it is so hard on the drive, i do it once a month and it can take over an hour, people say do it often so it dont take so long but it is unnessary, the best thing to do is keep up with your drive requirements, and make sure you have lots of gigage (lol) to spare so the machine can swap out better

forgot my point, cause bittotrent works with fragments, it needs to recompile them, but if they are moved, the fat could get screwed, i guess
