Eclipse release is out, but unfortunately our bittorrent tracker has an outage due to power issues frying some hardware. Therefore, you'll either have to wait for at least friday or get the release via XDCC bot (#eclipse@irc.rizon.org)

Sorry for the inconvenience.

As for the episode - the string of non-manga fillers continues ^_^; ... but alas, I hope we'll get back to the original soon! Next episode is obviously non-manga too, but looking interesting ;)

Well, there weren't that bad, this episode was quite amusing. But I really hope something plot-like will come up.
Please, Gonzo, don't let as down!

Alice is a fool. Hate to say this but I finally realised it. I mean, one moment she's chastising Machs to focus on the completion of their mission and duties as soldiers, and the next, she goes after Oreld for something as insignificant as Alcohol (considering their dire straits too!), jeopardising that very same mission she talked about earlier. Either that or it’s just bad story planning. :o Lol. Lately I've been making pretty much negative posts in this sub-forum. :heh:

God. This was one of the worst resolved episodes from PS I've seen. The worst. This is bad.

ImClueless 2006-11-24 12:26

I agree that Alice seems foolish. Gonzo seems that have emphasized Alice's idealism and naivete a bit too much. It alright in the first couple of episodes, but it gets old fast. Alice is due for some much needed character development.

Sonhex 2006-11-24 14:32

So how many times has Alice slapped Orland now? Three by my count I think. Another fun, if predictable, episode this one. I did laugh when everyone emptied their pockets and all Orland has is cat food (which Oreld is then forced to eat). :p

Next week looks intriguing; Oreld discovers that the big guy sleeps under a bridge and gets caught up with a mystery noblewoman.

Yeah, I agree. The entire scene in the avalanche just had me rolling my eyes. "Lol the 'treasure' was a serum all along for the townspeople" "Lol I'm about to die in an avalanche now but I'm from that town so the fact that we spent the entire episode chasing and trying to kill you meant nothing. Good luck dude".

I mean, if these bandits cared about the town as was hinted in that last scene, why did the spend their lives trying to hijack everything that goes along its one supply route? Seriously, what happened to logic, Gonzo?

Guido 2006-11-25 13:33

Burning in the Fields of Snow

I could not have agree more with anybody else. The episode per se was simply pointless and did not make an effort to give any hints to indicate a connection with the general plot.

It was disconnected or isolated from the point of conflict to the story. The hijackers turned out to be people from the town, therefore, their need was justifiable to rob and steal any cargo that crossed the only route that communicates the town to the outside world.

The very few things that salvage this episode from total awkwardness were:
1) No Oland going against tanks this week just like in the last two episodes.

2) What is interesting about Oland's Ghost-Lantern mode is he's not just a monotone and walking, killing machine. He still maintains his perception and cognitive skills to play out an effective strategy to catch enemies off guard.

There was no way for Oland even in he's self-induced, psychotic mode to hit all those agile and swift targets all one-by-one, therefore, he shot the snow hill to cause the avalanche.

3) This week even in his Ghost mode Oland's looks were not depicted threatening or psychotic when the bandits leader confronted him face to face.

4) Oland talks sense to Lt. Alice not to make such a little ruckus when she snapped at Oreld for smuggling out the food supplies from HQ. All four were amidst a precarious situation with a man injured in tow, cornered into a seemingly inescapable situation by bandits, and just heck freezing to their bones.

What I conclude from the time limit is either (the logical assumption) the serum is a perishable product and if not delivered in time to be synthesized for a thorough administration, then the medicine is lost. Or the patients at the town would not have been able to endure the disease which afflicts them for after the time limit expires.

Cyz 2006-11-25 15:01

Well, can't say that I enjoyed watching this episode. The only enjoyable part there is when Alice tried to punish Oreld and Oland stopping her just by grabbing her from the back. Oh! and let's not forget what happened to Oland after suggesting to cuddle with Alice. He seriously need to watch what he was saying.
