The show is based on an original concept by Sakaki Ichiro. The fan of Scrapped Princess may recognize his name as the author of the novel. Apparently, this show is going to replace the timeslot for Welber no Monogatari, a Production I.G series, that is going to broadcast in Tokyo MX TV in this coming April. The director for the show is going to be Kato Toshiyuki who also directed several episodes of Simoun. Cano Caoli will be in charge of the music. The show has a very good vibe going for it. The synopsis in the following is taken from animenfo:
In early summer, 20 years later, Amizawa Village

A 18-year-old girl, Ebihara Chinami, emits electric wave when she becomes exited. Therefore, she cannot use electric devices such as personal computers and cellular phones very well. Her power is so strong that the plain her family rid was about to crash because of the malfunction of the instruments by unknown reason.

Due to her power, she had been transferring schools. As usual, at the first day of this school, when she is little excided, display of a classmate’s cellular phone becomes in a mess, and electric devices begin to react to her.

The more she becomes nervous, the worse the satiation went, so she takes her note on her book “The place and severity of electric devices”. When she passes the room of the Science Club, she meets Kotaro in his eyes while he is engaging in experiment. Because his diagnostic device reacts to her, he begins to be interested in her, and he asks her to study her.

He promises her to keep the secret and he might help her. Although she is suspicious, she accepts his proposition because she expects that it might change her constitution. Since then, she has helped his experiments after school. One day, Yumi, who is her classmate as well as a shrine maiden, also she has the same ablility of Chinami’s, happens to find her ability.

One day, Sonomi sees their experiment, and she get jealous. When she turns on Chinami, Chinami gets exited and shows her power. However, Sonomi is a fair person, she help them to hide Chinami’s power from their classmates. At that time, nobody knows an organization aims at her power is approaching.

One day, when Yumi invites Chinami to her house, Chinami knows Yumi has the same power and it is called “TYPE-E”. Yumi is surprised that Chinami hasn’t known about it, but also she feels envious. Meanwhile, Adol and his fellows came from Bringard, transfer to Chinami’s high school forcibly.

While they are spending trouble some school days, Chinami notices she is getting attracted by Kotraro. One day, she gets disappointed by his word, and loses the ability. She is supposed to be happy, but actually she feels something vacant.

When they go to Amizawa Village for camping school, Chinami retrieves her ability stronger than before, and loses the control and causes catastrophe in the village.

Chinami and Kotaro are crushed under the building, and he is seriously injured. While Chinami is crying, the places around her begin to glow faintly. A helicopter goes to the place as if it were attracted by the light, and helps people seriously injured.

It is the moment when many lives are saved by Chinami’s power. However, at the same time, there is a person who is watching her.

And Simoun's series director Junji Nishimura is involved in script-writing (staff listing in English can be found at ANN).

This sounds like it'll be worth checking out...

CODE-E will also be getting a manga. the manga will be titled: CODE-EX.

CODE-EX will be serialized in the seinen manga magazine Sunday GX (do you understand now why they called it CODE-EX :heh: ), and yeah its getting a seinen manga :P

Sakaki Ichirou & Harao Yumiko will be working on the manga.

Sakaki Ichirou is a light novel writer (this seems to be his first time working on a manga).

Harao Yumiko is the mangaka that worked on Centzon Hitchers & Undertaker manga; which is the manga adaptation of Ergo Proxy anime (it was also serialized in the seinen magazine Sunday GX).

I have never heard of Cano Caoli (interesting way of westernizing her Japanese name btw), but hearing the trailer music which I assume is her work, it reminds me of Read or Die. Heck the lead character is a meganekko, have special powers and looks to be a dojikko too! :heh:

Anyhow, this looks to be an interesting show.

So this is a love comedy/romance, not a detective story?

I will keep an eye out on this one too.

The Simoun staff connections certainly get my attention. And that summary sounds as if the psychology is interestingly complex. The director was also the director of Full Moon wo Sagashite, apparently.

This appears to be the first named role for the star, Hashimoto Mai. She has a blog, with pictures. Nazuka Kaori (Yun in Simoun) and Halko Momoi are also in the cast.

Whoa, been a while for me without a vocal-less opening (Cowboy Bebop?). It certainly seems interesting enough. I'll check it out when the subs come out.

Potatochobit 2007-07-05 04:01

episode one was actually pretty good. you already knew what was coming from the preview but they still managed to throw in a small surprise or two.

the voice acting seemed fine to me. animation was good. other than that weird one eyed bear thing, nothing really to complain about.

UPR 2007-07-05 13:05

pretty good ep gonna wait for subs to see what they say and give it atleast 2-3 more eps and then decide but overall it peeked my interest
