Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Series

Anyone played the Splinter Cell franchise? So far I played Chaos Theory, one of the best stealth/tatical shooters, and I totally loved it. Right now I'm currently playing Double Agent, the turning point for Sam Fisher which willl lead to Conviction. I can't wait for Conviction to come out, the gameplay looks interesting. Sam Fisher is the coolest of all characters.

I've only played the first one and the first mission of the second one but i got bored at that point. I prefer action shooters like half life 2 and bio shock the only exception for stealth games would have to be metal gear solid for me but splinter cell wasn't a bad game.

psycho bolt 2007-09-05 17:57

I recommend you try Chaos Theory. They made stealth more enjoyable by adding more options the first and second didn't have. Also, ill note that their newest game Conviction will be going into an action game while retaining some stealthness. I know there are a lot of Splinter Cell fans are pissed with this change.

Dromthefirst 2007-09-05 18:08

Sounds good i might have to play, but if those fans are pissed off the y should play metal gear that hasnt changed at all.

Splinter Cell is an amazing series, with Chaos Theroy's single player being made of epic win.

Pandora Tomorrow is still the king of multiplayer though.

siya 2007-09-06 10:52

I've played them all, and own Chaos Theroy and Double Agent....From what I've played so far...I definatly thing Pandora Tommorow and Double Agent are the best, Followed by Chaos Theroy....Everything before that I like equally...I'm a fair person :D But yes..There awsomenss. And Irvine is right, Pandora complelty dominates in multiplayer mode...I used to play on xbox live, and I used to dominate it was like, OMG WOOSH EPICNESS AWSOMES!!!!" lol, I don't have xbox live anymore...it's sadening...Noone is ever even on Xbox live anymore....or the games anywas...it's all 360 now...and I can't afford a 360...it's very sadening...:( Yes! but anyways.....I SHALL HIT SUBMIT!

I've beaten every Splinter Cell games and I love how the gameplay works. It's too bad that Conviction is only for 360 and PC. Hope they release it also for PS3.

I got Chaos Theory for free when I bought my Graphics Cards years ago, it was the first Splinter Cell I played.

It was truly awesome to play through. I spent absolutely ages on every mission... taking my time with everything. I ended up taking like 30 minutes or more for each level. :heh: So great how you can go about the same mission objectives with different styles of approach. I played it so much that I started speed running the levels on Expert. It's great fun to just be able to overpower all those hapless guards with stealth and cunning. In fact... reading this thread is making me want to play again. My favourite level to mess about on has to be the Penthouse.

I did also buy Double Agent on release, but sadly, the amount of bugs and sloppy performance on the PC really killed it for me. I've never completed it. The official forums even has a bugs/glitches thread with really annoying work arounds to avoid them. This game should've been patched. Another nuisance was that the options didn't ever save! ARGH!

Ubisoft Shanghai should never be allowed to produce a game again.

If only Ubisoft Montreal had made Double Agent. :(

I have never really liked the Splinter Cell series but... The latest "Conviction" to the series seems awesome in terms of stealth gameplay and also the story, as well as the CG cutscenes. Its kind of like the new James Bond with a different story.

7h3 Ru551an 2009-09-30 08:15

i wonder when they will stop making this series

Woopzilla 2009-09-30 08:29

Probably when there's no more money to be made? :p

It's like any franchise, it'll get milked for all that it's worth. And hopefully they'll produce decent games while they continue to milk.

Check out Ubisoft's latest TGS 2009 trailer for Splinter Cell: Conviction:

The stealth gameplay is awesome, not to mention that the cutscenes are even better. If this turns into a movie, it can compete with Casino Royale or the Bourne series. :)

Why would they stop making the series when it keeps on getting better?

7h3 Ru551an 2009-10-01 08:11

what do you think the next splinter cell will be after conviction

I have no clue as that this game already has almost perfect gameplay and graphics. I cannot see how they will manage to improve the battle system, as well as the graphics further but considering how many games there were in the Splinter Cell series, I bet the makers already have plans for a next game or perhaps, it is already in development.

7h3 Ru551an 2009-10-02 07:07

It should and will be awesome

I tried the first one on Gamecube. It was kinda fun, but I still think Solid Snake is the coolest.

But I admit that Sam Fisher was fun, mostly due to the fact that in the french version of the game, he is voiced by the french VA (Daniel Beretta) who dubbes Arnold Schwarzenegger :heh: And I think he did a very good job.

7h3 Ru551an 2009-10-05 08:04

hmm ive never played any other language version of the series

I live in France, so I have no choice :heh: But the French Voices acting was very good in Splinter Cell :)

And Schwarzy's French voice is good :heehee:
