B't X (Beat BtX)
A few months ago I aquired the fansubbed DVDs of this unlicensed anime from the source, Vortex fansubs. I've been ripping the episodes onto hard disk and would love to share this anime with the rest of you. It's an anime from around 1996 that was based on the Masami Kurumada Manga, the author of such series as Saint Seiya and Ring Ni Kanero (sp?). I'm also the editor of the TV Tome page for B't X, which is at http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/ShowMainServlet/showid-11828/
Well let me know if you would like to check it out! |
B't X is licensed. ADV picked it up a long time ago.
Please read the forum rules and check the Animesuki License List and the Grand High License List at www.animeondvd.com before doing this again :) |
Not that I doubt the great microlith, but I can't find any information about B't X being licensed. Could you please give me an URL or perhaps tell me what name it was licensed under? I really need to find an actual reference before I will refuse to add it to the site.
Also, this does not seem to be a torrent submission, but rather a question if people want the torrents to be submitted. I suppose I'll have to move this thread though I don't know yet if it needs to be moved to the Fansubs or DVD&License Forums. Perhaps I'll compromise by moving it into the General Anime Forum until I know for sure. Edit: Found information on B't X being licensed at http://www.animeondvd.com/news/news.php?news_view=41, but there are also hints that ADV dropped it so I am still unsure. |
If you're ripping them DVDs make sure the subs don't have shoddy timing or the video quality sucks.
Either way, I'm sure many people would like another series to watcj. |
I think lots of people would enjoy seeing this anime! Just make usre the quality and timing and such are at a respectable level..otherwise it'll just get people jaded on watching the series. Thanks for going through the trouble of getting this for everyone!

Alright I see it now in the news section on the link you posted there. I looked through their grand high anime list earlier to check and see if it was licensed and I did not see it there, I guess they have not updated it all the way. Apologies.
As for the subs, they are hard-encoded by the fansubber, who resides at http://www.fansubber.net in the old style of doing it with analog equipment, so I have no control over them. The source of their videos I believe comes from laserdiscs as there are some minute errors in them. I try to solve that problem with various filters during encoding and do a decent job at it. I have ripped the first ten episodes so far, the first nine being in the way I used to do dvd rips, which are Divx 3.11 SBC, and the tenth and all future ones with Xvid, al at 648x480, around 230MB each. I used BeSweet to encode the audio with VBR selected, to average around 160kbs/sec. It's pretty damn good quality. The series is fairly rare to find online as I only managed to find a few episodes done by an extinct fansubbing group AnimeSeven, and then a brazilian episode and the japanese openings and endings, and none of them were in stellar quality. I'll investigate this further and will email ADV about the status of the ownership of this series, if they dropped it or plan to do anything with it, etc. I know Tokyopop owns the rights to the manga, and they released the first volume in January to stores nationwide. |
I hope that ADV answers you. Two whole years after they announce the license, they should at least have a release date for it already. That does lend some weight to the "they dropped it" theory.

Subscribed to this thread. Good luck communicating with ADV, Ultimo. :)

....but BT'X Neo is not yet licensed. :uhoh:
Master Ran |
B't X Neo is just the second season of B't X. I know this from the link mentioned in the first post.

I for one want to see this in the US. It seemed cool enough when I first watched it in Chinese. And it's from the creator of Saint Seiya, so there's gotta be some brownie points there...

B't X is not licensed in North America
Here's the reply I got from ADV films customer service dept.:
Hello, At this time no anime studio in North America has announced rights to this title. Please check the link below and it will give you the most updated information on what has been licensed in the US. http://www.animeondvd.com/licenselist/ Please continue to check our site for information as it becomes available. Thank you, ADV Customer Service So it seems that it is not licensed after all! Let me know if you want me to start releasing eps or how that's all started. |

WOOOOOOOOOOOT!
*Glows like the Prism Wings* This is gonna be awesome! |
Well let's sum it up here:
- The only clue is 2 years old. No news at all since then, such as release announcements. - It's not on AnimeOnDVD's license list (which is more accurate than ours). - ADV seems to deny it themselves, and refer back to the license list. - There are rumors that the company who had it, dropped the license. Now the only problem with the news from ADV's Customer Service department is that they did the same thing for Maburaho just a few weeks ago. All in all: I'd say, I have no problems right now with putting up fansubs. We can always remove them again if some more solid proof is found. |
slightly off topic, Does this mean that Maburaho is NOT licenced?
|
Since their disavowal ADV announced that they do have the license to Maburaho. It is quite official without any room left for doubt.
