Chrono Crusade licensed by ADV

HOUSTON, March 15, 2004-ADV Films, the #1 producer-distributor of anime in the U.S., today announced it has acquired exclusive home video and broadcast rights in North America for Chrono Crusade, an action-adventure anime that follows an unlikely duo as they attempt to destroy supernatural evil through exorcisms in 1920's New York City.

Chrono Crusade recently made its Japanese television debut to much fanfare. Renowned anime production company Gonzo Digimation, of Full Metal Panic!, Hellsing and Kaleido Star fame, managed animation production for the title, ensuring a spectacular visual experience for viewers.

ADV Manga already has the rights to the popular Chrono Crusade manga series by Daisuke Moriyama, which premiers with a May 25, 2004 street date.

The series will be featured on the Anime Network(tm), the first cable channel in North America dedicated to anime.

plus it say it will debut later this year.

Wow, so basically the anime was picked up around the same time also. Its strange how no one has brought this up until now though.

From what I heard about Gonzo is that when they started a project on anime they tend to search for co-fund company so they won't run out of money when doing an anime like what happen to other companys.

Mikesmaf 2004-03-15 17:04

omg.......why!!!?!?!!? i loved that show..............now animesuki won't list the torrents :(

cf18 2004-03-15 17:33

So they licensed Chrono Crusade, not Chrno Crusade, right? :heh:

Kidding aside, can they just stick to one name?

NoSanninWa 2004-03-15 17:37

They are probably changing the name since they figure that it will confuse too many people without the extra "o"

acording to animeondvd.
apparently the licensor has insisted on a slight name change to Chrono Crusade.
I seen Gonzo make more mistake with english word in the kiddygrade.

MidNteJ 2004-03-15 18:03

ShadowLady 2004-03-15 19:34

That's just great. it's going to be completely impossible for me to get chrno crusade now.. :( I wish i was japanese. :(

*cries eyeballs out*

Cuchulainn 2004-03-15 19:45

So I guess we can all commit seppuku...

Or try to get the dvd, if they release it.

rdperalta 2004-03-15 20:27

here's another good example of companies exploiting fansubbers hehehehe and "we licensed it in the US so you cant distribute it to THE REST OF THE WORLD" crap hahahahahaha

Well.. i doubt Aone will stop them from subbing it. Look at ROD ;)

Just buy the American DVDs through Amazon.com. What's the problem with that?!

Cuchulainn 2004-03-15 20:42

I really hope they won't stop.
The torrents are still open with AnimeJunkies, so maybe they will continue.

gundamfans 2004-03-15 21:12

I know it's mean to say to you guys, but it's not licensed in China, so I can get my hands on Chinese subs. If you guys can read chinese, you don't need to wait for the DVD's to come out or to wait for some risky bad english subs.

Kaka 2004-03-15 21:16

well it doesn't make a difference if it's licensed in china or not
since nobody will even care XD
