Slice of life - comedy anime?

Can someone suggest some slice of life, comedy anime? Like Minami-ke , Ichigo mashimaro , Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! . Preferably 12-13 episodes long [but it's not very important]

Working!! is pretty good.

Shiroth 2010-06-27 05:25

Yeah i second Working. Such a good show.

There's also:

Azumanga Daioh (26 episodes)
K-ON
Kannagi
Lucky Star (24 episodes)
Kyou no Go no Ni
Hyakko
Potemayo

There's many more, though these should do for now. :)

Third Working. Also, Sketchbook - not as overtly comedic as Minami-ke or Working, but often hilarious.

Guardian Enzo's suggestion of Sketchbook reminded me of Hidamari Sketch, check that out as well.

Theowne 2010-06-27 12:12

Definitely not 12-13 episodes, but Kodomo no Omocha is often very funny and a very likable series.

Both those too of course.

Shiroth's post is a great list to start.

I'd also like to include:
School Rumble
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu - has a few scifi elements, but its mostly in a normal high school setting
Skip Beat! - plot driven but funny as hell
Manabi Straight!
Bamboo Blade

It works a lot better having seen the first series as well.

In hindsight, I would also add Natsu no Arashi to this list, esepcially the first series. Some SF/Fantasy elements, but it's basically slice-of-life and very funny.

Nobody mentioned Aria? Well, it's quite long, three seasons and OVA, but definitely worth trying.

I didn't mention it because the OP asked for comedy. Sure Aria has little bits of comedy, though that's not what the OP is looking for in a series.

I'll second that one. I consider that to be an underrated series.

I recently watched Kanamemo and really enjoyed it. A hidden little gem of an anime that kinda' reminded me of Minabi Straight.

Aria is at the top of my all time favorites. No, it's not really comedy, but is very lighthearted and has many charming moments. It's definitely worth checking out.

Shiroth 2010-06-29 07:26

Yeah i'll second Kanamemo. There's some seriously good laughs to be had there.

I'd say Aria too.

First season 13 eps
Second Season 24 eps
Third season 12 (maybe 13)

If you are looking for a slice of life anime, then Aria is definitely a must-watch series.

The first season is called, "Aria: The Animation"
The second season is known as, "Aria: The Natural"
The third season is called, "Aria: The Origination"

I also recommend Moyashimon, and Cromartie High School.

Hidamari Sketch falls into the "cute-girls-go-to-high-school" genre. Not laugh out loud funny like School Rumble can be at times; mostly it just puts a smile on your face.

Two other shows I'd recommend include a young Japanese family and pet. In Chi's Sweet Home/New Address, it's a kitty. In Higepiyo, it's a chick that yearns to follow a samurai's path. Paku Romi's performance in the title role of this show earned one of my personal bests for 2009.

If you don't mind ongoing anime, a bit of perverted humor, and some odd practical jokes, try Mitsudomoe.

Qwey 2010-07-07 08:54

Hyakko is absolutely hilarious. I'm about half way through it right now, and its one of those shows where you turn an episode on and when the credits roll you're surprised 20 minutes has already passed. Its fantastic.

Seitokai no Ichizon - daily shenanigans of a student council, doesn't sound like much but it's funny as hell.
Way I like to put it is "brilliant minded simpleton chases after harem!":heh:

must watch if your after comedy and slice of life.
