if thats the case i recommend vobsub also known as vsfilter to load your softsub. that should alleviate the lag, but remember to disable internal subtitles first and to autoload vobsub.

i see your problem as well, heh.. no worries though as zoomplayer will do just fine and doesnt have that frame freeze in mpc that you speak of, if so its probably do to a weak/aged computer setup.
