I just read the first volume,and I agree with you- it's one of the best works I've seen,not only including light novels.
I like stories with the time-travel/time-loop theme so it got me captivated...

I really enjoyed the first episode.It has plenty of elements that are similar to Higurashi (like supernatural beings,protagonist being transfer student,conflict between townspeople etc)
