If this show was to only have Okita, Saitou and Harada, we'd have more than enough enthralling action each episode. In fact, sometimes I skip through the episodes just for their scenes.

I'd venture a guess that it was Okita that tied him to the bed ... for the sake of improving his knot tying skills. And from how poor Chizuru was bound in epi 1, he must have practiced a lot.
