Theoretically psy-rd is a better replacement for FGO, but the current version of psy-rd doesn't try hard enough to keep very small grain. So it's safe enough to try it.

The version number of mplayer-mt is wrong, it certainly uses an ffmpeg-mt newer than last November. Not really a problem.

You build libav* as shared libraries, but that doesn't save much space...

I turned off multithreading for mpeg4 a while ago. I think I know what the problem is now, but it already decodes so fast you'd hardly notice it only using one core.

If it is, does "--disable-x11" in configure fix it? There's no point in building all that stuff anyway, although you do need X11 installed...

The deinterlacing methods in -pp (what's exposed in the prefs now) are all pretty bad. I'd recommend getting rid of them and replacing it with "-vf yadif" (the good deinterlacer) and "-vf pullup"...

There's a typo in the header (stray line with a [ in it) that messed up the parser. I fixed it in the next Perian release, but I don't remember if mplayer works with it now.
