I agreed that I like the idea that Shinn and Kira finally get a chance to get to know each other... but I'd much rather that happen in Orb, than with Kira joining ZAFT... it still makes very little...

I think you're confusing the definition of a good leader with a good politian. Cagalli has demostrate herself as an inspirational leader in GS, but she has hardly show any signs of a good politican....

Personally I think not drawing in "the" anime character is the most basic requirement for character designers. I wouldn't call any illustrator/designer without his/her own signature (recognizable)...
