Already saw Haruhi (and loved it of course) FMA has always been like whatever for me. I don't dislike it but it doesn't really capture my interest.

See I find the opposite, I'm less likely to get a headache when I watch anime in the dark vs with the light on. Also I find watching with the lights off to be less distracting.
