Personality: A somewhat happy disposition. Loves acting cool but he sometimes doubts Himself. Loves to pester Subaru (and Subaru pesters back) and Tia is annoyed by the sight of him. He's neutral when it comes to Elio and Carol. Almost zealot-like but does not follow orders often, making him end up in trouble, sometimes.

Device: Praesulus (Latin for 'Director'), the "Directive Wand"
Device Type: Key Device, Combat Boost Support
Description: It resembles a jeweled, less armored white version of the right-hand Revolver Knuckle, though without the 'revolver', thus making it akin to Carol's BD (boost device). It has a clear crystal cross about 2"x 1.3" in area on the top of it, surrounded by four red stones at the corners.
Device History: In a previous mission of the trio, before the apperance of the Gadget Drones, they have managed to recover a group of devices known as 'Key Devices', devices that were held in mytical status in legends in all the dimensions- with powers beyond that of the established. So far, only a handful of these devices were ever activated, much less on Bureau Recruits. This is also the device from which Carol's device is based from, based on a research paper crafted from an illusive Bureau Admiral- also ranting that Uninterfaced mages (mages who have no devices- Like Yuuno), the only kinds who can easily cast supporting spells are few and far between . The device found its way into Ashton's hands when it went missing from the reseach lab when said person was about to recruit into the bureau- it turns out that Key Devices seek out their respective "keepers" when needed.

Offensive Skills:
- Since this device is for support reasons, the number of offensives it can manage is low, but he can still fight with other methods.

Kinetic Dart: basically generates and fires off a powerful dart made of physical matter, thus bypassing AMF fields. Can also be steered to hit the target anywhere.
Lancet: generates a medium-length metal lance from the device, allowing the user to hack and slash. Can also bypass AMF due to the physical nature of the weapon.
Pendulum Line: Basically a moored version of Kinetic Dart

Defensive Skills:

Agile Shield: basically a seal shield, in the likes of round guard or plate shield, but can be moved faster.
Agile Guard: basically similar to protection, but can be used while moving at full speed.

Support Skills:
- the forte of a supporter mage! several of the skills are akin to Carol's, since this being the device Carol's was based upon. though some Carol-centric abilites are clearly lacking.

Deflect: a shield enhancement that can deflect shots at some degree.
Reflect: a shield enhancement that can reflect shots by chance.
Accura (Accurate Cura): a healing spell that regenerates exactly 10% of a person's health per second.
Raise: increases defensive value of a target
Tune: increases accuracy and critical hit value of a target
Strech: increases range capability of a target. He uses this on Nanoha to enable her to snipe even farther with DB-X.
Haste: increases movement and attack speeds of a target for a time limit.
Hang: attempts to freeze the enemy targeted in its tracks. if sucessful, the target stops, slows down and speeds up randomly.
Drain: attempts to sap the enemy of his/her/its strength. if sucessful, targets suddenly tires or shuts down.
Block: attempts to bar the enemy's movement by putting up a wall of force, if sucessful the target hits the wall and gets damaged and stops.
Boost Line: generates a pair of magic boost rails, allowing those inside of it to speed up movement- akin to a railgun. When used in conjunction with Subaru's Wing Road, it becomes a catapult, boosting those being 'launched'. He uses this on any ranged attack to further increase attacking power- one time he used it on Nanoha, making her Accel Shooter shots feel like Divine Buster hits on the enemy end- the same effect also occured with Tia. He also uses this on Erio to not just wreck one, but six AMF+APF (Anti-magic+Anti-physical field, called an I-field) drones with one move.
Gap Generator: the bane of all AMF emmitting devices! similar to Carol's field invalider, this spell generates a gap in the AMF field present, enabling those inside the gap to use magic, as if the AMF was not there.
Animus Maximus: a buff for his summons, allowing them to go into divine unlock - a state of 150% combat effectiveness.


History:
Much of his history was like that of a normal mid-childan child, happy family, happy life- a relative nobody, until he recruited in the bureau. After being caught with the Key device, he was monitored closely and educated separately- due to the still unknown nature of the device with him. during his academy days, he had also heard about the duo of Nakajima and Lanstar- the 'non-standard duo' as he called them. He graduated a realative commoner and was assigned to the mysterious ship Silvana, under the command of the illusive Admiral Kyla, the same admiral who submitted the paper on support magic. While on board, he and the crew of the ship had heard the events of MD6 and the Relics, but unfortunately, a much as Chrono or Carim would like, the ship was in a top secret mission, hunting a rumored X-class criminal called 'Fangwang'. A year later, MD6 was tasked by the chain of command to work with the Silvana on the case it was handling. Admiral Kyla took temporary command of MD6 in the process- being a higher authority than Hayate- thus enabling Hayate to join Nanoha and Fate in the sky once more- with two new subordinates as well- Him and another Dei-type warrior. But he has a secret in his lineage- he was one of the few recorded cases of being a 'reactive', a person who can fuse with another, turning into his/her weapon- and one of the forward stars will experience it- Final Fusion anyone?

Spoiler for The Family Secret:

Only Ashton and his family know what sacred, poweful (and terrible- maybe) secret lies in their blood line. They are the last of a human magical subgroup known as the "reactives", a group that have extensively fluid linker core lattices- making them almost eretherial in nature, if it were'nt for their vastly corporeal makeup- they are humans after all. And the most important of the facts is that they are the last descendants of the Reverie Clan, the holiest of the once abundant Reactive families- keepers and bearers of the "Divine Jewel Weapon"- a weapon that was legendary in itself, spoken about in countless epics and novels in the three magic forms- Mid, Belka and Dei. But no one has yet to see the weapon since it was last noted in an epic dating before the sectarian war between the Light Liberal and the Dark Conservative Belka- over a thousand years ago estimate. According to legend, the divine jewel is not just a stone or a weapon, it was a person in itself, born and raised normally until the age of 16 and above, where a process known as the "awakening" occurs- often a choice in a grave situation with another person- of the opposite gender- which fuses both into one fighting entity, the reactive becoming the weapon and the other one becoming her/his heart holder.
The "Seven Glittering Jewels of Divinity" (Shinsei no Shichikohoju), that was the collective name of the seven Divine Jewel Weapons whose power was comparable to the Sealed Devices- four signifying the elements and the remaining three as symbols of the human soul- Thought, faith and love. Reverie, Ansel, Dais, Mino`thael, Metherio, Amikara and Kagami- those were the reactive clans blessed with bearing the weapons in thier blood. In time, most of the clans had vanished, making the whereabouts of the weapons they bear unknown in in time, legendary. Only the Reveries remained, though in the past centuries, no one was born of that condition. As the clan members dwindled, so was hope for the weapon to shine once again- and finally, the Conservative Belkan attack on the Royal Midean planet Aedl- home of the clan, was the final wipe- the temple that the clan maintained was destroyed, scattering members across the territories of Royal Midea and Federal Chaldea- prompting the two systems to form the Midea-Chaldea alliance- casually called Mid-childa alliance- sending peacekeepers to Belkan space in an attempt to quell the sectarian war between the conservatives, led by the High Temple of Velk, and the Liberals, led by the Saint Church's predecessor, the Iolite Temple of Asra. Centuries pass, with the war over, and the alliance cemented (and thus the combined space was now called mid-childa), the clansmen had already married into other groups, thus thinning the possbility of the appearance of the weapon.
That is, until Ashton was born. Upon his birth, his parents and the few clansmen they have as realtives were shocked, on the boy's chest was a small green jewel- they dug up all the archives they can get thier hands on and confirmed that the boy had a divine weapon- The 'Nilthan`den 'Aeul'- ancient Midchildan for "Armor of the Devoted Lover"- the most powerful of the seven jewels- the symbol of Love- extreme devotion and love to whoever he reacts with. He was then raised as far away from girls of his age as possible, from elementary even until his training in the bureau- where he heard of the 'Amazing non-standard duo'- so in a maximum sense, he was almost clueless about girls, excpet for a few things that boys do- but he never fell for anyone, always saying that 'someone fated for me is out there...'

--- The "Nilithan`den 'Aeul" ---
The Armor of the Devoted Lover as it was called, dates back to before the Belkan sectarian war, appearing the numerous legends- mostly epic romance of the period. It's true form was never seen and has always been described as 'an armor that conformed to the one using it, while the 'lover' as the reactive was called, conformed to the very spirit of his/her heart holder- thus further enhancing the capabilites of it'. By some feat, the reactive only reacts with a member of the opposite gender, thus bestowing it the title- and often, according to legend, heart holder and 'heart' become one in matrimony- though in some legends, after a long saga and sometimes end up in death for the couple. There had been 54 epics linked to this relic- involving peasants to princesses and now, somone in the Stars Squad will continue on the epics...

Spoiler for The Summoning Arts of the Dei:

Being a support type dei warriror, it was paramount for him to learn the ways of his device- not just supporting allies, but also being self sufficient in combat, which in dei terms, meant summons. Not the familiars or guardian beasts of Mid and Belka, these beings are only called upon when needed, and reside in a space called the 'Void' when not on duty. While bearing some semblance to Carol or Lutecia's summoning techniques, dei summoning has always been quick, effective and with variation- unlike Carol or Lutecia, who could only summon a single type of creature, Ashton can select from one of four beings- called totems or specifially, animus.
They cover the four basic fighting functions- melee, ranged, support and multimission. These are the four Animus.


Paimon: Melee type. Resembles an cloaked armored knight wielding a huge sword, able to take masses of hits. In full divine unlock, it bears two blades and has speed.


Hecate: Ranged type. Resembles a woman wielding a fan, using it to blast with critcal energy shots. In full divine unlock, it can summon AoE spells.


Inanna: Support Type. Resembles a cloaked angel. When it does spells, it uses its life enegy until it 'dies' and returns to the void to rest. In full divine unlock, it can support multiple targets.


Isis: Multimission type. also called the 'floating assassin', it resembles a cloaked woman wearing a rather huge and archaic jetpack with glass wheel wings. This summon if by far the hardest summon and train, but it will deliver, able to fight toe to toe with range, melee and speed, this animus has been feared at least once- when the Aces were almost beaten by it alone, during the time of AlternateS I. But it has a weakness, it can only fight one at a time. In the full divine unlock however, that is a different issue.

And while on the subject of being a reactive and a divine weapon, Ashton has the capability to become a weapon to his chosen 'Pledger'- a person that he fuses with- which in this case is Subaru and in a couple of cases, Teana- due to his device being capable of bending the rules- in this case, the maximum number of pledgers he can have- which is 3. In the simplest terms, he bestows armor and his weapon to the pledger, but in Subaru's case, it goes another level, in fact, four levels to be precise- the only case of the heart/pledger duo to even move a level is on the only happy-ended romance epic among the 54 or so epics tied to that device. Kyla has designated a term for each level, 'Fusion', 'Harmony', 'Unity' and 'Finality'. Once Ash fuses, he can present himself as a spiritual image of himself, commonly floating behind and a bit above.

Level 1: Fusion

The most basic state, as the name implies, this is just a normal fusion state, with Subaru being armored in such a way that Kha had described it as 'wearing semi-old-style knight armor- so basically Subaru with some areas armored- particularly some areas of the legs, body and arms, and also gets short metal headband over her right side of her head. The two in this state are in the simplest way, trying to make sense and how to's of everything.

- No Special Moves.
- Attack power is just the above average of the two. Combined Compound Rank: BB+
- Ashton needs permission and initial movement from Subaru before he can use her limbs - especially when it comes to summoning.

Level 2: Harmony

As the name suggests, Harmony is basically the state in which Subaru and Ashton begin harmonizing with each other's magical energies- though thoughts are still separate. It started as a result of the formation of a formal friendship between the two- well if those two are 'bound' in such a way, that's the only path they can take. In this state, they can a least share energies and even fire off a much more powerful moves. The armor in this state is much more upgraded- even the shoulders and back of the cloth barrier jacket get armor and a metal halo sometimes appears on her head.

- Special Moves: (listing three for now)
> Starlight Breaker Punch: A close-range version of Nanoha's Starlight Breaker - note: Starlight Breaker to your face, not being lobbed towards you.
> X - Buster: like the famed move from a certain net-navi/reploid maverick hunter - RK charges much more energy than her DB and releases it explosively- hitting far. Needs Buster Arm to work.
> Asura Strike (low power): simply the most powerful punch that eliminates any unlucky target- though at this power level it will only hit 15% of the time. Ashton and Subaru used this move against a Viscount and won, but the forces generated by the unmastered and imperfect attack, coupled with the energy wave the slain noble released, ripped open a wormhole that sent them to Elhazard.

- Forms:
> Buster Arm
> Drill Arm

- Attack power is an increased 1400% of the average of the two. Combined Compound Rank: AA
- Ashton only needs permission before he can 'borrow' Subaru's limbs, quite helpful when the pledger herself is tired.

Level 3: Unity

The most advanced state that they have entered so far, resulted from a little 'side trip' to Elhazard, also called 'heaven' because they got to see most the relations of the Aces (and some OCs and CCs) that have died- among these is Mertholo Scrya, Kyla's Husband; Illicida Mornay, Praesulus' previous keeper- also a reactive and Precia and Alicia Testarossa; now living happily and are waiting for Fate to come home. Also in this side trip they also meet other the Shinsei no Shichikohoju, asides from 'God's Helping Hand' Illicida, the 'Pillars of Support' team of Rinae and Cruz, the 'Sword of Justice' team of Renos and Arila and the 'Star of Guidance'... whose name was not known but her 'device' takes the form of a key staff cannon. The armor in this state is basically the same in Harmony, but with added back and skirt reinforcement and a low 'backpack', housing three funnel drones- which Ash can only control. Also in this state is the capability to 'switch' enabled- in which Subaru and Ash can trade places during a battle- after a faint shimmer. So sometimes, Ashton takes Subaru's place in the physical world- wearing her barrier armor and using her/his weapons, while Subaru takes Ashton's place as the reactive, while she rests, her spritual nature at that moment protecting her by some degree.

- Special Moves: (listing four for now)
> Giga X - Buster: a much more powerful version of X- Buster. Needs Buster Arm to work.
> Nova Strike: a powerful full-body charge attack -akin to that maverick hunter's powerful attack.
> Asura Strike (pure): the pure form of the said powerful punch attack, able to eliminate the target with no chance of missing.
> Body Switch: a special skill that allows Ashton and Subaru to trade places in combat (like Kha and TKS AI does). But the Drawback is that the bodies and minds are only switched, not the jackets- so, When Ashton is in play, he still wears Subaru's jacket- luckily the additonal armor makes the jacket look boyish anyway- and Subaru can rest in relative safety as a 'pseudo-reactive'.

- Attack power is increased by an unknown percentage. Combined Compound Rank: S-SSS+
- Due to having 'Body Switch', Ashton can take Subaru's place in combat.

Level 4: Finality

The only unseen mode, how to being it up has been a matter of debate, from 'forming a relationship' to taking it to a higher level- the physical one.
