SearcherS: part 2
Friday, April 15, MC 0075
Satoshi woke up to the sight of cold sweat and in a seemingly unfamiliar place.
"My head...feels like someone smacked me with a sledgehammer...."
Satoshi thought as he held his head. "What was that...no, who was that? I've seen one before...but who was that?"
"HEY!" a voice close by screamed. "Stop talking to yourself, now!"
"WHAT THE?" Satoshi said in surprise, startled by the voice. He looked to the right to see a blonde-haired girl about Satsuki's age, with a pinkish coat over her standard uniform. Satoshi immediately who this was: the 216th's 2nd-In-Command of Medical Operations, Angelica "Angie" Devero. Although she was young, she was very knowledgeable about all things medical, and was put here. He then knew where he was: in the medical bay of the 216th HQ.
"Jeez....of all people, it's you...." she said in disappointment.
"If you're trying to help a patient, don't give them a heart attack by screaming close to them." Satoshi retorted.
"You're too fit to get a heart attack." she commented, making a comeback to what Satoshi said.
Satoshi chuckled for a bit, then said, "Then, why don't you fill me in on what's happened?"
"Simple, you fell down on the ground, unconscious, everyone had to drag you back here, where you've been laying down there for about 5 hours straight, then you wake up and talk to yourself about someone."
"I see..." Satoshi replied. "Well, I'll be going now."
"Good, at least I don't have to watch you anymore." Angie replied jokingly. "Take some time to rest, it's probably gonna help you." she said, before giving back Satoshi's items. He then left the med bay.
"Man....that was a weird dream...or hallucination...or whatever it was..."
Satoshi thought as he started walking down a corridor. He took a glance outside from the windows at the right of him, then looked back straight down. As he looked, he saw a person: the same one that he had seen in both his nightmare this morning, and just a while ago. Satoshi could only see his back, but when he blinked, the guy was gone. "
What in the world?"
"There's must be something wrong with me, maybe Angie's right, I should just take some time to rest."
Still, as he went home, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was up....

"So, you alright?" Satsuki asked Satoshi when he arrived to the HQ.
"Yeah, just had to sleep more these past weeks." Satoshi replied. He hadn't seen any other visions of the person in a while since then.
"Alright then..." Satsuki reluctantly said.
"Still worried about me, though, huh?"
She didn't say anything, which usually meant a "yes" from her when she wasn't answering a question.
"Don't worry about me, now. Just do what you need to do."
"Sure." Satsuki said, with a small smile on her face. She then left to go join Margaret for training.
"Well, time to get down to business." Satoshi said after Satsuki left.
He got down to the Major's office again, where he found out his next task.
When he went in, there was the Major sitting down and Rachel standing nearby, with some sort of file in her hands.
"Satoshi, I got something for you to do. I want you to go to Riot Force 6's headquarters with Rachel, just give them a file."
"What is it about?" Satoshi asked.
Rachel answered for Alexi, "It's combat data and technical specifications for the Type-1 Gadget Drones from your previous mission, since we managed to get some and observe them."
"I see." Satoshi replied. "Since they'll be fighting these Drones a lot, they need all the information they can get."
"Bingo." the Major said. "we already have a copy for ourselves, so it isn't a problem. We also gave these to the Saint Church."
"Alright then." Satoshi answered.
"So, shall we go?" Rachel said.
"Well, there's no use staying here."
As both Satoshi and Rachel were about to leave, Alexi suddenly told them one more thing.
"If you're done getting the file over to Riot Force 6, take some time to do whatever you want."
"I'll take note of that." Satoshi said with a grin.
"Finally!" Rachel said in excitement, to which both Alexi and Satoshi laughed.

The King Raven was already prepared to take off at any moment as Satoshi and Rachel managed to get up onto the helipad. Near the copter, a guy about the same age as Satoshi, with short
brownish hair. It was Jack Scuderia, main pilot of the 216th.
"You two are late." he commented.
"Hey, we're just seeing the sights, Jack." Rachel said.
"Right, right...I believe ya..." Jack sarcastically replied.
"Let's just go..."
"Fine, fine....Anyway," Jack said as they were taking off . "I heard what happened to ya, Satoshi. You alright this time?"
"Yeah, don't worry about me." Satoshi replied.
"Alright then, I won't."
"[That makes ME worried.]"
Cipher suddenly said.
Jack laughed as he got the King Raven in the direction of Riot Force 6's headquarters.
Saturday, May 15, MC 0075
"Well, we're almost there, just about a minute or so." Jack reported as the silhouette of Riot Force 6's headquarters came into view.
"Alright then." Satoshi said. "So, shall we get ready?" he said to Rachel.
"I think we should, don't you think, Satoshi?" she replied.
"Alright, cut the polite crap, guys." Jack said. "I don't need to hear it. Anyway, here we are."
Scuderia effortlessly put the King Raven down on the helipad, where they were all greeted by Vice Granscenic.
"Hey there, Scuderia!" he called. "Long time, no see!"
"Same here. It's been a long time, huh, Vice?" Jack answered as both of them shook their hands.
"It has. I still see you're piloting that old warhorse."
"At least I don't have to rely on that thing over there." Jack replied, pointing at the helicopter that Riot Force 6 uses.
Vice chuckled, and started to greet both Rachel and Satoshi.
"Hello, Captain Stada. Hey, Satoshi."
"Hey." both of them answered together. They looked each other in silliness after that.
"Jack, you mind staying here?" Satoshi asked.
"Nah, I'm okay, I have a lot to catch up with anyway." Jack replied.
"Alright, see you, then." Rachel said.
Going through the headquarters, Rachel and Satoshi managed to get to the office of Lieutenant Colonel Hayate Yagami.
"Let's see if she's here..." Satoshi quietly said to Rachel.
He knocked at the door, and after 3 seconds or so, someone answered, "Come in." They both went in to see Hayate and Reinforce Zwei looking down on the desk, looking at another file.
"So, what is it now,.Griffith-kun?" she asked.
Satoshi smiled, holding the urge to laugh, and said, "I think you have a case of mistaken identity."
Puzzled, both Hayate and Rein looked up to see Satoshi chuckling and Rachel smiling at them.
"Sato-kun!" Hayate exclaimed. "Sorry, sorry...." she added, embarrassed at her mistake.
"Sato-kun!" Rein said excitedly, hovering towards him. "It's been some time since I saw you!"
"Hey, you two." Satoshi said. "It's no problem, that was a bit funny though...." Satoshi added.
Cipher responded, addressing both of them.
"Hello, Lieutenant Colonel, Master Sergeant." Rachel said.
"Hi." Hayate and Rein replied. "So, why are you here?" they asked.
"We have something that would probably help you." Rachel said, handing the file over to Hayate.
"It's combat data and specs for Type-1 Gadget Drones we got a while ago." Satoshi added. "We already gave a copy to the Saint Church."
"I see..." Hayate said softly, looking over the data. "How did you manage to get this?"
"We had a rogue mage that had control of some of these Drones that we got." he replied.
"Hmm..." she added, still looking over the data.
"Impressive place....Rein, you even got your own desk?" Satoshi said in an attempt to liven up the conversation.
"Hai~desu! Hayate-chan managed to get it for me." Rein replied in a cheerful manner, sitting down to show Satoshi.
Chuckling, he said "Well, it fits you well."
Hayate was finished with looking over the data and said, "Thank you for it."
"No problem. So...where's Nanoha and Fate?"
"They're at the training ground right now." Guessing on what Satoshi wanted to do, she added, "Do you want to go there?"
"Of course. I would go there myself, but I'd get lost. Would you show me the way?"
Hayate smiled and agreed, with Rein going with her. Both of them followed her outside to the training ground, where Nanoha and Fate were looking over their respective squads.
"Nanoha-chan! Fate-chan!" Hayate called out.
"Hayate-chan! Rein-chan!"" both of them called out to her before noticing someone else near her. "Sato-kun!"
"Hey, guys." Satoshi said as he approached both of them. "So, how long since we met each other in person? A year, two years?"
"And you're still the same." Fate commented, which made Nanoha, Hayate, and Rein giggle for a bit.
Chuckling, Satoshi noticed a screen, showing the trainees of Riot Force 6, fighting down some practice Drones. He looked at it for a while, then he asked both Nanoha and Fate, "Can I have a mock battle with these guys?"
Rachel, knowing what had happened to Satoshi before, warned him, "Are you sure you want to go with this?"
"I'm alright, don't worry, and besides, the Major said that after we delivered the file, we could do anything we want." Satoshi replied.
"Okay then...just be careful." Rachel said.
Thinking it over for a while, Fate and Nanoha finally said, "Alright then."
"Great." Satoshi said with a grin. "Cipher, you ready?"
"[I'm always ready, willing, and able.]"
As the trainees of Riot Force 6 were finishing up, Nanoha, Fate, and Satoshi were nearby, seeing them finished. They stood up in line, waiting for Instructor Nanoha's orders.
"Everyone," Nanoha said cheerfully, you can take a rest for now."
They suddenly took a sigh of relief as they all quickly sat down on the ground, glad that training was over, or so they thought. Noticing Satoshi near both Fate and Nanoha, Caro La Rushe asked Fate, "Um...Fate-san, Nanoha-san, who's that person near you?"
"Oh!" Nanoha exclaimed, forgetting about Satoshi a second before. "This is Enforcer Satoshi Kazukuni." She then said embarrassingly, "Sorry, I forgot about you."
"No problem." Satoshi replied. As he finished talking with Nanoha, he saw all of the trainees up on their feet, saluting him. "At ease, all of you." he told them. They sighed in relief again, which
made Satoshi chuckle a bit before telling them something else. "There's just one thing I want to say to you guys. Questions will be later Please, call me "Satoshi", not "Enforcer Kazukuni" or "Sir". Titles scare me out. So, any questions?"
"Um, how do you know Nanoha and Fate-san?" Erio Mondrial asked.
"It was before this whole unit was started," replied Satoshi "about 10 years ago. Anyone else?"
No one asked anymore questions, and so, Satoshi asked them one more thing. "Well, you guys ready for a mock battle?"
"A mock battle?" Subaru Nakajima said, puzzled at the thought.
"A sparring match of sorts, to put it simply." Satoshi replied. "I understand if you don't want to do it, you've had a long day. But the offer still stands..."
The trainees started to huddle around, discussing about what to do.
"Well, should we?"
"It's probably worth the experience."
After a minute, they finally broke out of the huddle, ready. "We'll do it," a confident Teana Lanster said.
"Alright then." Satoshi replied. "I'll give you guys five minutes to rest up, then we'll begin." He then took out Cipher in its Cross Form, and pointed Cipher at them, saying, "I'll give you this, I'm a mage that you haven't seen before."
Saturday, May 15, MC 0075
After five minutes, all of them were ready, with Devices and Barrier Jackets set up. Satoshi was already hovering above the trainees, while Nanoha and Fate were watching atop a nearby building.
"I wonder what Sato-kun's gonna do..." Fate said softly.
"I dunno...we'll just have to watch." Nanoha replied.
"Listen up!" Satoshi said to the trainees below him. "I'll go by these rules. Either get a hit on me, or bind me, and you win. The same goes for you; if I even hit one of you guys, you all lose. Got it?"
"Hai!" they all said. "Can we hit him?" Teana said telepathically to Subaru. "We will." she replied.
"Alright then, let's get started." Satoshi said. "Cipher, mind if you start?"
"[Nope. In fact, I like it when I start.]"
the Device said.
he added, and an octagon formed around Satoshi's right palm.
"An octagon?" everyone thought. But there was no time to think further, as Satoshi started his attack, firing Burst Shooter. Eight high-speed magic missiles approached all of them, intending to take them all out in an initial strike. Everyone managed to dodge it in time, and they were helped by the dust cloud, disguising their movements for a while. "I expected them to be distracted by the octagon." Satoshi muttered to himself. "Looks like they can dodge wel-" he said before a Wing Road was cast near him, and Subaru charged at him, with Revolver Knuckle ready. "Revolver...SHOOT!" she yelled, as Revolver Knuckle shot out a sonic blast. Satoshi avoided it, looking like he expected it in the process. "Cipher, load cartridge!" he commanded.
Cipher replied as two cartridges were used.
he responded, as wind from Subaru's attack started to from on the blade, quickly taking form. Satoshi immediately threw it to Subaru, who wasn't expecting her own attack thrown against her. "
Mach Caliber replied, and the shield came up, protecting her from the Gale Saber. However, it managed to push Subaru back. Meanwhile, Teana was already in place for an ambush, having already set up an illusion atop another building diagonally left of Satoshi's position. As Satoshi looked at Subaru, waiting for her next attack, he noticed a red dot on his left cheek, coming from where Teana was supposedly situated.
"There's the feeling that's not real..."
Satoshi thought as he casted Eagle's Eye. He was correct; it was an illusion, easily identified by the little streaks of magical energy coming out. He then put out his palm downwards, towards the right. "Cipher, Burst Shooter!" he said forcefully.
Cipher replied, and Satoshi shot towards where the real Teana was at.
"How did he-"
Teana thought as she dodged all of Satoshi's shots, surprised at the fact that he managed to find her.
Meanwhile, Caro and Erio were on the ground, with Erio charging up and Caro boosting him again, going by the same plan as what they did when fighting Nanoha. "Erio-kun, be careful." Caro said worriedly as she finished her boosting spell. "Right...." Erio replied quietly as Strada was ready to attack.
Strada said, as Erio blasted out, hoping to get a hit on Satoshi. Subaru also charged at Satoshi when Erio launched his attack, hoping to trap him. Satoshi knew better, though.
he thought, counting down when he should dodge.
He dodged Erio's attack by quickly shifting to the left. Subaru had to ditch her attack, or else she was going to hit Erio.
Cipher said, casting a long chain-whip of fire, which Satoshi threw in order to catch Erio. He managed to slow down in mid-air, and seeing Satoshi's attack, proceeded to dive down and attack him. Strada was caught by the chain, though, and Satoshi managed to throw him out of the way, deattaching the chain for fear of a rebound strike. Caro reacted quickly. "Fried, Blast Flare!" she commanded to her familiar. Fried then fired a projectile directly at Satoshi. "Crap..." he thought as the projectile managed to be within his sight. "Feuerwand!"he yelled, casting a wall of fire that took the brunt of Fried's attack. Still, the force of the attack managed to push Satoshi away from the wall a good distance. "That was a good one...." he thought to himself, before seeing a bunch of chains coming from the ground come out under him, trying to catch him. "Damn...shouldn't have started thinking..." he told himself as he put Cipher towards the chains, hoping to let Cipher catch the chains. His plan worked; the chains got a hold of Cipher's blades. He knew he was a sitting duck, though. "Wind-Gewehrkugel Der Scharfschützen!" he ordered to Cipher. Cipher then discharged 3 cartridges, and shot a wind bullet at the ground. It hit nobody, but the recoil of the blast managed to break the chains, freeing him. He then returned to a combat stance, ready to strike.
Watching this from a screen far away from the action, Rachel asked Hayate, "How did you know Satoshi?" Hayate stopped watching the fight and replied softly, "It was about when the final Book of Darkness case started...." She didn't say anything else other than that, but Rachel could see that she was hesitant to speak about it, and so, she didn't ask anymore about it. She could also see a hesitant Reinforce Zwei, not even speaking about it. Vice and Jack got to where Hayate and Rachel were. "So, what's happening?" Jack said, apparently forgetting to look at the screen first. Rachel pointed at the screen, with her face covered in disappointment. He looked and saw a glimpse of Satoshi fighting. "Isn't he-" he asked, before being interrupted by Rachel's reply, "He wanted to." "Well, let's just see what happens..." he said as he managed to take a seat.
Just then, Signum and Vita approached where everyone else were, wondering what was happening. "Hey, what's going on?" Vita asked towards Hayate. "We're just seeing a mock battle." She replied. "With who?" Vita asked again, not knowing who it was. Signum, on the other hand, looked at the screen, recognizing Satoshi fighting against the trainees. "It's just Satoshi." she replied. "Satoshi, huh?" Vita said with a bit of annoyance at him. They sat quietly, waiting to see what would happen.
"Sato-kun's improved...." Nanoha commented to Fate. "Still, I don't think he could beat us both, considering how he is." Fate replied.
By that time, everyone was going for Satoshi, trying to finish the fight as soon as possible. No matter what, though, he either kept blocking or dodging their attacks.
"Kuso....this is taking too long..."
Teana thought as she casted a Cross Fire straight at Satoshi.
Cipher replied, stopping the projectiles in mid-air. Satoshi then sent the projectiles to Subaru, who was preparing for another attack on him. The projectiles stopped her attack, but now Satoshi was forced to deal with Erio and Caro. Erio attacked Satoshi again, slashing Strada fast enough that a blade of wind was sent to Satoshi. "Crosswind!" Satoshi ordered, and he applied Erio's attack and sent it right back at him. Fried managed to hit the cross-shaped projectile with Blast Fire before it could hit Erio. "What the hell? There's no way we could get through him." Subaru telepathically said to Teana. By now, all of them pulled back to one spot, inside a building, to plan their next move. "He's just too hard to beat." a panting Erio said. "Then why doesn't he attack us all?" asked Subaru. "I got it." Teana exclaimed after a while. "We'll go attack him all at once. We've just been attacking him one by one. If we attack him together, we could get him." Everyone agreed with the plan, and set out to do it.
"Man....this is dragging on...." Satoshi said to Cipher. "If this continues, I'll get swamped eventually."
"[I agree with you. Still, I feel the fight's not done yet.]"
Cipher replied. "Yeah...this fight's just getting started..."
"Where is everyone?" Hayate asked as no sign of them showed up on the screens. "They must be hiding or something." Rachel added. "Figures..." Jack commented. "Hey Jack, you should give them a chance; they can pull off some amazing stuff after doing something like this." Vice replied. Signum replied softly, "They can do it..."
Fate and Nanoha just watched and stayed silent the whole time, wondering what they were going to do. "Hmm? Wait...over there!" Nanoha said, looking at a newly cast Wing Road. Their attack had begun.
Satoshi noticed the Wing Road, and Subaru came into view, charging right at Satoshi. Meanwhile, a glint from the left and right revealed projectiles from Cross Fire heading straight at him. Erio went according to plan, appearing on top of Satoshi, with Strada ready.
it said, and Erio was going at him at high speed. Caro and Fried finally appeared below him, with Fried already lauching a Blast Fire at him. He was trapped, with no place safely left to move. He hadn't expected an all-out attack either, and was stunned, fumbling on what to do. "Heh...they got me." he thought, ready to accept his fate. Suddenly, something happened. Everyone and everything seemed to decrease speed, to the point where everything was cut down to 1/8 of regular speed.
"What the?" Satoshi thought, not used to the sudden change. "It's not a spell I know...I'll take advantage of it, though. Cipher, Advent Shield!"
Cipher replied. Ejecting 4 cartridges, he cast the shields on the top, bottom, left, and right of him. "Now, Variable Shield!" Satoshi commanded Cipher, which followed his orders, making a octagonal shield about the width of Revolver Knuckle itself. Within moments, everything came back up to speed for him.
"HOW IN THE HELL?" Subaru thought in disbelief at what happened as his Variable Shield blocked Subaru's attack. "How did he..?" Rachel said, surprised at what just happened. Everyone else was stunned in silence. In the space of 1 and a half of a second, Satoshi somehow managed to make 5 shields to block everyone's attacks, all separately and without any other spells. Even Satoshi himself was surprised about what happened. As the trainees retreated, Satoshi snapped out of what happened, and started to fight again. "Dual System activate! Pixy, Set Up!" With that, he twirled Cipher, where Cipher changed into his Storage Device alternate; a shotgun. "Let's finish this." Satoshi said.
he added, making a energy blade near the barrel in case of close combat.
Teana, recovering from the shock of what happened, casted another Cross Fire to get Satoshi.
Pixy replied, as Satoshi fired a lot of ice shards right into the path of the projectiles. They did their job, hitting all of them, and making a cloud of mist that hid Satoshi's presence for a while. After regrouping, all of the trainees expected Satoshi to come out of the mist cloud, but when it finally settled, there was no one there. Suddenly, Satoshi came out of the sky, using Electropic Stealth to get away and to surprise them. He used Pixy to trap all of them into the center of the street where he was at. "Pixy, Blaze Jet!" he commanded, and a huge jet of flame suddenly shot out of Satoshi's hand, encircling the trainees. In a last-ditch attempt, Caro commanded Fried for another Blast Fire, which missed, and Teana shot at him several times before Satoshi binded them with Gale Bind.
"Pixy, switch back." He said as he landed on the ground. Pixy turned back into Cipher, just as the fire burned out, with all of them still in the bind. "Well, it was expected..." Fate said, sounding a bit disappointed. "It's over... "Jack commented. "So, who won?"
"Kuso..." Teana said in frustration. As Satoshi apporached all of them with his head down, Caro was the first to speak up. "We lost, didn't we?" Satoshi laughed for a bit, which confused everyone. After he stopped, Satoshi put his head up, grinning like they had accomplished something extraordinary. He then replied, "No....you guys won."
"WHAT THE?" Jack said in disbelief. Nanoha and Fate looked at him, puzzled. Even all of the trainees were looking at him like he had gone crazy. He then pointed to a small scratch on his left cheek, and said, "You barely scratched me with one of your shots, Teana. Since it was that you had to hit me, even a scratch counts as a hit to me. You guys win." He then released everyone with a snap of his fingers and got out of his Barrier Jacket.
"A scratch? OH MY-" Jack replied in disbelief, stupefied that Satoshi was that picky.Vice laughed, commenting "Well, they managed to do it." Rachel, Hayate, and Rein just giggled at Jack's remark. "Satoshi..." Signum said quietly, almost chucking at him. "Idiot..." Vita commented. "A scratch, huh?" Nanoha said quietly, looking at the sky. "Sato-kun's still the same after all these years..." Fate replied. "Even if Sato-kun got a scratch from us, he'd still count that as a hit." Nanoha remarked, now looking at the scene below.
"If you can get a scratch on one opponent, with practice, that small, insignificant scratch can become a full-on hit. You guys impress me, all of you, going up someone that used a style different than what you would normally expect. You guys manage to deserve it. Just keep on practicing, you got that?"
Everyone suddenly stood up, with faces smiling, saluted him, and said, "Hai!" He saluted them back, as a sign of respect. The fight lasted a full 45 minutes, way longer than what anyone

3: 57 P.M.
As soon as everyone got up, they were greeted by everyone else. "Signum...Vita..." Satoshi said when he saw them, not realizing that they had just seen what had happened. "Satoshi..." Signum replied. "...that was impressive." "BAKA!" Vita screamed at him. "how can you let a scratch count?" "Well....I...um..eh..." Satoshi said, stammering, trying to find an excuse.
"My GOD, man, a SCRATCH?" Jack said, painfully disappointed. "Eheh..." Satoshi could only say. Everyone else just either chuckled or giggled at him not finding an excuse. He even chuckled at himself, saying, "I guess that's just me...."
"Well, we have to get going. It's getting late." Rachel said, probably sparing Satoshi even more ridicule, although that didn't affect him anyway.
After saying their goodbyes, the King Raven left the helipad, heading back to 216th HQ.
"I swear man, you had them, and because of a scratch, you admit defeat? Man..." Jack commented. He stayed silent for the rest of the flight, pondering on how Satoshi could be like that. "Well, it was a good day." Rachel said to Satoshi. "That was impressive, though, casting five shields easily. How did you manage that?"
"I dunno, luck maybe?" Satoshi replied, keeping the true reason to himself. Something bothered him about that. "How did I manage to do that?" he thought as the helicopter made its way.
"Maybe...maybe it concerns the person I saw....nah, it couldn't..." Satoshi then took the remaining time to take a nap.

As the night sky fell on the capital, a staff dropped on the ground, followed by a mage, already dead before he hit the floor. His partner charged at a robed figure, only to be cut down by a red blade.
"A fine month...it's perfect." the robed figure said, as he saw the bodies of the mages he killed laying on the ground.
"It is...and we shall make it one to remember." he suddenly said, in a darker, more sadistic tone.
He then walked into the shadows, leaving the bodies to the light....
"Rarely here, mostly not."
