It is a fact that in recent year the sales of porn in Japan has strongly favoured ones where the actress had big boobs, even when their other qualities (face/leg/overall body build) are lacking. So it's a pretty accurate indication of what most Japanese males prefer. Hentai is on a similar trend, these years the proportion of hentai with freakishly large boobs is very high compared to say 2002 and before.
As for the "Japs" I have a Japanese class mate and he didn't mind that term. It's not in the same league as "chinks" for Chinese (I myself is Taiwanese) which is indeed offensive.
