Description: Itsuki looks like your typical Japanese male. He always has a relax look on his face, and is often seen napping under a tree with an open book over his face. His hair and eye colours are normal Asian features and he prefers it that way. He has a pouch where he normally keeps any book he is reading at the moment and it also stores a mirror, which he claims has more uses than merely making sure his hair is presentable enough, though it's not because he's vain or anything. This makes the other clerks wonder what the mirror is really for to which he normally replies “secret!”
History: Born on Earth’s Japan, Itsuki was orphaned not long after birth. His father supposedly left his mother, then pregnant with Itsuki, citing inability to finance and care for a family as the reason. His mother couldn’t afford to keep him either, so he was abandoned at an orphanage. Despite growing up to be a little touchy and emotional, he eventually accepted the circumstances that surrounded his life. Reading became a passion he picked up early in life, and visiting the library his habit.
It was on one such occasion when he stumbled upon an odd book that looked out of place in the library. Weird looking and bearing no title, it was a thick book with a air of mystery surrounding it, and was written in a language that Itsuki couldn’t recognize. It was well organized, with what seemed like a table of contents in the first page. The book itself had a lot of pictures, symbols, or diagrams, as well as what appeared to be a journal at the last section of the book.
Curiosity piqued, he decided that he would try reading it. Even if it is a foreign language, he'll just have to try to pick it up slowly, if just enough to help him get by reading the book. The contents of the book, as he slowly discovered, were nothing short of astounding. In fact, it was unbelievable to say the least. However, as he was still a kid (albeit a rather precocious one) he had always hold on to the believe that magical things and Santa Claus existed in real life.
The book described a world of magic, of planets other than his own, which had always been but mere fantasy to him. Itsuki wondered if it was some prank or merely a fictional book made to look like some kind of research on magic, for that is what it seemed to be (or at least seemed to be made that way), a research into magic.
“Lets find out if it is real.” he thought at that time, and since then he had entered into a realm many considered heretical. During that time that the Time Space Administration Bureau (TSAB) decided to scour the entire planet for individuals with magical potential, both to avoid any more incident like the Book of Darkness incident and to recruit new mages from a planet now acknowledge to “produce unusually powerful mages”. 16 months later, TSAB probation knight Signum of the Wolkenritter led a search within Japan’s Tohoku region.
It was to be a story of an encounter that will only come once in a life, as the search came to the remote neighbourhood where the orphanage Itsuki lived in is located. It was but a tiny tingle, but Signum felt the stirrings of magic, and found Itsuki trying out basic magic while hiding in a shed next the orphanage. He was trying to cast a simple barrier spell, when he was approach by the sword knight.
Strangely, Signum felt compelled to offer him an official invitation to the world of magic. “Would you like to come with me, to a place where you can learn much more?” That day, in that worn down shed, the boy looked up at the woman who saved him from a life of obscurity, the one who showed him the path to greater things, and the one he came to regard as a respected sister-figure. He took the offer, one he will never regret.
Personality/Habits and behaviour/Hobbies: He's generally nice, but has a bad habit of teasing people, especially girls. He comes across as a very laid back person, though he can be serious when called for.
He’s protective of his friends and cares a lot about them. However he never likes to have people fuss over him and would usually try to solve his problems on his own. He doesn’t like Jean calling treating him like a brother figure and calling him as such because he’s afraid that people would think he’s taking advantage of younger girls or are interested in them.
He insists that people call him “senior” or “sempai” when they are around him, as he dislikes formalities, seeing as he himself isn’t one to dispense with formalities. He addresses Signum as “Signum-nee” just like Vice, for indeed they both came up with this way of addressing her.
He has a bad habit of staying up late at night, spending hours on the computer; reading, watching anime from his home planet, and procrastinating on things he finds tedious. Another quirk he has is that he if often found staring into space sometimes, which indicates that he’s deep in thought.
Sometimes when he reads, he gets so engrossed in the book that he has to be shouted at to get his attention. He reads stories and fiction a lot and his favourite genre is fantasy. He has a tendency to think out loud even when he's alone.
Fighting style:
His main combat style can be described in 3-words, hit and run. It's not his style to block or defend any hits, but to dodge and deflect them whenever possible. Therefore, his combat style places a lot of emphasize on speed, and his skill with wielding his device.
If he needs a bit more range for his attacks, he can convert Oath Keeper to a mode that resembles a Japanese wakizashi.
Generally his battle tactic is to do hit and runs. Blast a bombardment shot from long range now and then if given time, throw a Black Nail from short range, or go in close with his speed and deal a damaging melee attack with Blast Impact or use his daggers.
He doesn’t shout battle cries in combat nor yell out the names of his attacks like most do. He finds that shouting in combat a waste of breath, and it goes against the idea of trying to keep the opponent unaware of his location as he does hit and runs.
Barrier Jacket:
Itsuki’s barrier jacket consists of a red shirt with a black vest worn over it, and black pants.
Device(s): Oath Keeper
Oath Keeper is his Intelligent Device with a rather high-level AI programmed, due to him being lazy and wanting more automated features. Itsuki uses his agility as his main battle asset, dexterously wielding his twin daggers with great proficiency. Oath Keeper also has a mode where it transforms into wakizashis. Both modes can be converted to a one-hand mode.
Storage mode: A platinum key-shaped trinket, which Itsuki hangs on his belt.
Oath Keeper: (dagger mode)
Oath Keeper is a pair of twin silver daggers. The daggers are each 1 feet long, the blade is a shiny silver with a hilt of an even shinier gold. The end of the hilt slides out to reveal a slide-in cartridge system similar to Vita’s Graf Eisen except it can only load 1 cartridge at a time, this isn’t a problem for Itsuki since he doesn’t really use cartridges very often unless he really needs to. Itsuki’s attacks do not normally require cartridges to be executed, however he can expend cartridges to increase the power of his offensive attacks or spells. Since he can only load one cartridge at a time for either of his daggers, he uses high calibre cartridges with high amount of compressed mana.
Oath Keeper: (wakizashi mode)
Oath Keeper in this mode transforms into wakizashis. One cartridge is used when changing into this mode, and the conversion is independent of each other. This means Itsuki can convert one dagger into a wakizashi while keeping the other as a dagger.
Spoiler for Spell list:
Offensive spells:
Howling Light: A spell that creates a blinding ray of light and roaring howl for a few seconds, temporarily blinding an opponent and affect their hearing, a great spell for many situations. It serves as a spell to gain momentary tactical advantage in combat, so it can be very useful. This spell is similar to Vita’s Iron Howl.
Black Nail: A spell that forms magical long swords. The long swords are thin and because it is formed by magic they are almost weightless. Designed to be used like throwing daggers.
Attack: C
Speed: A
Range: C
(The following spells are borrowed from Lowe)
Spoiler for ”Impulse spells”:
Force -
In martial combat, one requires physical strength and power to deliver the energy required for impact. The most basic spell for many Neo-Belkan practitioners, and also the easiest to learn, is the “Force” spell, which is a basic spell to externally enhance the wielder’s physical strength. This is achieved using a combination of external levitation (and in some cases, Midchilda-style Barrel Rings), which provide additional aid and support on a mage’s arms or legs. This grants a mage extra physical power in lifting heavy weapons, or further enhancing the power behind a strike.
Blast –
Another basic Neo-Belkan spell, “Blast” is a “static kinetic energy” spell applied at a weapon’s impact point, which multiplies the kinetic energy behind a physical blow without the requirement of adding extra momentum or mass. In combat this significantly improves the damage potential of a normally kinetically weak blow, like a punch.
Although the advantages are considerable, the Blast spell creates significant kinetic energy backlash at the item it is used on, whether a weapon or the mage itself. For this reason, application of this spell is most ideal on sturdy, blunt and dense objects with a large surface area on the impact point, like mallets, clubs and hammers, to better absorb and dissipate the backlash. Impact dissipation spells can also be applied to further reduce the backlash’s negative effects.
Sword –
The third of the basic spells, “Sword” is a “focus energy” spell, which enhances a cutting blade or piercing head by reinforcing the material integrity of the cutting area, and also by absorbing kinetic energy on impact and focusing it on the cutting edge. A blade enhanced by this spell can cut through extra-hard and reinforced objects with minimal effort, and this spell can be further enhanced by Force for improved results.
Blaze Cannon: Itsuki’s only shooting type spell in his arsenal, which he learned during his time at the training academy he attended. This spell’s predecessor is Chrono Harlaown’s own Blaze cannon, a standard shooting spell many enforcers use, but is a stronger variant. It is more powerful but consumes more mana.
Attack: AA
Range: B
Speed: A
Final Cross: Itsuki rushes towards his enemy quickly and does a downward sword slash with one wakizashi followed by a horizontal slash with the other. Can only be used in dual wakizashi mode.
Attack: A
Rending Thrust: A deadly double thrust with both blades, Itsuki's favourite move on constructs. He dashes towards the enemy, this time thrusting both wakizashi into the mechanical construct and drags the blade outwards.
Attack: AA
Defensive spells:Protection: A multi-layer dome barrier shields himself or any target from conventional spells and lower powered bombardment or long-range spells. Shaped as a dome, this spell protects said spells from any directions.
Strength: A
Shielding radius: 2 metres
Knight's shield: A triangular shield with smaller circles at the 3 points (much like a casting rune) that shields Itsuki from 1 direction.
Strength: A
Support/Boost/Mobility spells:Flight: As a mage in the service of the TSAB within the air force, being able to fly is obviously a must.
Skill level: AA
Update (9 April 2008): Lots of changes, guess you can say it's a rebuild.
