As promised earlier a piece about Fate.
Spoiler for Twisting Of Fate:
Disheartened by the sight of a despondent Fate, Caro and Erio could do no more than watch on as Jail continued his mockeries.
Am I really like my mother? Does that bastard Jail speak the truth? Am I really..like him?
"Give it up Fate Testarossa. Search it within you and you know that to be the truth. You're exactly everything I have said and more," ending that off with a cackle.
"...."
"What's wrong now, my dear Enforcer Fate? Have you finally accepted what hid dormant within your 12 years of artificial life? Hmm?"
Gripping Riot Zamber tighter, Fate's expression was unreadable.
"Bardiche."
"Sir?"
"Overdrive. True Sonic Form."
"Yes sir."
"Commence Limit Break, Sonic Drive."
Golden light surrounded Fate while Tre and Sette activated their Inherent Skills and assumed combat stances. Jail simply looked on with lazy interest.
From within the column of light, Fate emerged with a change of barrier jacket and wielding dual zambers now.
Hope was renewed in the two Lightning Forwards at Fate's new stance. Hope which would be shattered shortly there after.
Jail narrowed his eyes and whispered "Show me. Show me the power which I have desired to obtain..Fate."
I'm not my mother..
"Shut up.."
Red aether strings burst forth from the ground of the lab under a twitch from Jail's glove. The resulting explosion covered where Fate was standing in smoke. Moments after, she flew out from within.
Sette was ready for her though. Swinging her left arm towards Fate's head and preparing a second strike with her right should that fail.
Fate simply ducked low under her swing, the force of the missed strike radiating through the air. The second swing was intercepted by her zamber, shattering the weapon in the resulting collision.
Sette could only gap in shock at the inhuman speed which her attacks had been rendered useless. Her eyes grew wider at the sound of a dull "shirek". She turned slowly to face Fate, who by now was right in front of her.
Empty burgundy eyes, devoid of light was all Sette saw before she crumbled on top of Fate.
Fate proceeded to withdrew the zamber impaled through the dead Number, pushing Sette off her. The unmistakable red of blood was covering the length of her right zamber now, quickly gathering in a small pool on the dusty floor beneath the tip of Bardiche.
I'm nothing like what he says I am..
Tre could only afford a gap of surprise at the realization Sette had been killed before Fate came at her. Activating Ride Impulse to counter Fate's Sonic Move, the two speed demons engaged in a dog fight which Jail could only follow as a deadly dance of death marked by the yellow and purple streams of light clashing and moving apart repeatedly within the space of seconds.
Rounding about to strike, Fate brought her zambers straight at Tre. The hasty block with the fin blades on Tre's wrists held initially, the burst of energy from her opponent was the last thing she registered, moments before the blades pierced through.
He is wrong..
Fate stared down, her eyes in a cold fixation at the man below, before she threw off the weight currently on her arms into the walls of the lab.
Jail was silent. Glancing at the gaping holes on Tre's arms and neck, blood pouring forth from the wounds, he offered no words for his fallen creations before turning his attention back towards the silent woman now before him.
This is not who I am..
"It seems I'm wrong after all. You have exceeded beyond my expectations and I'll say Precia was a foolish woman to the end, rejecting such splendid power for her mad dreams. Yet the irony, I see her alive in this beauty before me now. And that much I have to thank her for, if not for the scars she left, you would not have reached this current stage."
Jail's face was the epitome of twisted, eyes wide and a smile spread impossibly far.
"I offer you my hand now, Fate Testarossa. Come to my side now and I shall extend your magnificence with everything I have at my disposal, if only to let your splendid beauty grow."
Covered in cuts and breathing heavily now, Fate was down on one knee, leaning heavily on Bardiche as support, the twin blades bathed in blood. The ghost of a whisper escaped her lips as she struggled to stand up.
"What was that just now? Did you just say yes?"
Again the soundless whisper.
"Come now, I'm sure you can do better, my container of beauty, Fate Testarossa.."
Another two heavy pants before an answer was heard, loud and clear.
"SHUT UP!"
Fate charged, holding Bardiche in Riot Zamber form now, closing the gap quickly between her and Jail. Jail's response was to throw back his head in a laugh and spread his arms wide open, mocking her even now.
A raging cry mixed in with hysterical laughing was all that was heard before Fate swung the flat of her blade into the side of Jail, flinging him to impact against the opposite wall.
Fate walked over to the silent Jail lied. Picking him up by the head with her left hand, Fate's features was one wrapped in pure dementedness.
A small chuckle was heard before Jail laughed weakly.
"Fate..such magnificence..such splendid beauty..no one else can even dream of becoming like you..hahaha.."
Fate grimaced, the downwards curl of her lips revealing white and her eyes hardened. Jail's laughing voice coupled with the sight of his crazed face covered in blood was the last straw for her.
"Shut up..shut up..shut up..shut up..shut up..shut up..shut up..."
Golden light gathered up and electricity flowed over Fate's left hand, the hand which had Jail firmly in her grip.
"Show..show me more..of your magnificence..Fate Testarossa..HAHAHAHA!"
"..."
"Eternal silence to this fool before me let not his words defile my peace ever again."
Bardiche chimed once before answering.
"Hand of Fate."
Blinding light flowed from her hand, drowning everything in its grip, Jail's laughter seemingly consumed by the light as well.
It was hard to see what had happen but Caro and Erio waited for the blinding light to extinguish, before searching the display for the results of the aftermath.
From the clearing display, two figures were discernible.
A black clad figure standing before the corpse, left hand crackling with residual energy, right holding a bloody zamber and her back to the screen.
A white-coated figure fell to the ground sideways, revealing Jail Scaglietti to the display..
..and his now headless body.
The softest of a laugh was heard.
Shoddy.
