well Nicol didn't have a huge beam cutter slowly approaching and cutting at him to give him anytime to beg. Ming is more honorable as he has decided to sacrifice his own life to protect his team under his own free will, and he can talk to the enemy's face something along the line of "evil will perish, we will win" when the said enemy can kill him anytime. Nicol on the other hand just got in the way of a huge sword, for all we know he didn't decide to sacrifice his own life under his own free will, just tried to push his friend out of harm's way but happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Ming would be way too heroic if he can pull off some stunts like standing high and mighty to the very last moment and taunting his enemy while he's being slowly tortured and cut in half. However begging for his life under that circumstance just shows he's still very human after all. As he stands now he's not some legendary heroic figure, but a very brave and honorable human IMO died in a much more heroic way than Nicol. Nicol's death is more tragic than heroic and honorable.
