song ATM: (Raging Against the Dragon) Fighting (Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken)
TEARS OF THE NORTHERN WIND
Swords clashed. Projectiles shot. Fists exchanged. Kicks charged.
Already the destined battle ravaged the wilderness of Siberian outback. The ferocity of the duel was beyond any measureable logics.
Hikki converted the gale sword into a wind barrier and blocked Nagalintar’s Shin Reppuken. The force of the impact pushed him across the battlefield, and came to a halt only after the boy cast another wind barrier to stop the push. Nagalintar charged forward and slammed the Huracan onto the wind barrier, destroying it in one hit. Hikki retaliated with a Double Reppuken, distracting the Dragon God while allowing him to deliver an uppercut; it barely scratched Nagalintar’s face but it was enough to send him away.
“So this is the strength of a Gale Whistler,” Nagalintar replied.
“I haven’t even warmed up,”
Hikki replied and fired his own variation of Reppuken. Effortlessly Nagalintar blocked the projectiles with Pentagram Shield, not bulging from his place even an inch.
“I can see that.” Nagalintar discarded the shield and fired another Shin Reppuken that was deftly blocked by Hikki’s Cyclone Shield. The Gale Whistler absorbed the impact energy and returned it to Nagalintar in form of a gale arrow; the Dragon God merely dodged the attack.
“Where are you looking at!?”
A fist landed on Nagalintar’s face as soon as he turned around. The punch sent him flying across the land (although not by a great distance) but he was so taken in surprise by the unexpected attack he could not counterattack when Hikki delivered series of high-speed punches at him.
The attack continued, even after Hikki boosted his strength with another Chrono Install and exchanged fists with kicks in turn. Nagalintar was forced to take defensive measures, unable to use his sword in such a close proximity.
The Dragon Armour detonated. Hikki was knocked off, and Nagalintar took the time to recover from the attack. He looked at Hikki from a distance; the Gale Whistler, too, was recovering from Chrono Install that dissipated afterwards. “He’s capable of discharging Chrono Installs in continuous flows without risking overloading his body,” he thought.
He lifted Huracan. He brought it to a vertical position, slowly channelled his Chronograph power into the blade and slammed it into the ground. The resulting shockwave was knocking the rest of the Immortals, as well as the Narulian dragons, out of his way, and burst through towards Hikki. Sensing danger ahead, Hikki jumped out of the ground sonic only to face Nagalintar with Huracan fully enveloped in dark gale.
“Divine… DRAGON SLASH!!”
The attack hit.
And thousands of pounds of energy slammed onto Hikki and sent him deep into the ground. Nagalintar continued by firing hundreds of Reppuken at the boy in quick succession, almost never giving him any chance of retaliating.
The bombardment stopped. Nagalintar stayed afloat, looking down at the dazed Hikki who had barely recovered from the punishing blows. Slowly he stood, eyes burning in rage Nagalintar realized was coming from his disdain heart.
He cast another wind barrier and projected his hand up at the Dragon God.
“Gale Whistler or not, you’re still a human!!” Nagalintar fired another Shin Reppuken, this time destroying the wind barrier and sending Hikki off the ground. He charged at the stunned boy and slammed the Huracan onto his body, again sending him into the ground; in quick movement, he teleported and repeated the attack, kicking him everywhere across the barrier-bound battlefield.
“He’s unstoppable,” Rabaleo commented. “He’d do anything to prevent his son from falling to the Chronograph’s corrupted side.”
“But he’s going to kill him in the end,” Cedric said.
“It can’t be helped,” the senior knight replied. “It’s their battle. We can do nothing about it.”
The attack stopped. Nagalintar hovered above the ground, holding Hikki by the neck. “I have since regretted my failure to protect Bayu and fulfil her promise to properly raise you.” He tightened the clench. “For ages, I have been blaming myself for failing to save Bayu from her demise.” Huracan was reloaded and Nagalintar brought it to a stabbing position. “It was a mistake to live and fall in love with her, and I should have known the consequences long ago.”
“Then why can’t you change the past, instead?!”
“I would, but then it would never change anything. What’s gone is gone.” Nagalintar stabbed Huracan into Hikki’s left shoulder, twisted the blade and lifted the boy off his hand. “This time, I will make sure history won’t repeat itself again.”
He withdrew the power out of Hikki. The boy cried in agony as the Chronograph circuit was taken out of his body. Hikki continued screaming in pain, his power draining out of every inch of his vein and his body weakening greatly.
Huracan was finally pulled out. “You should suffer no more,” Nagalintar spoke. The boy could not say anything and was left falling into the ground. “You are no longer worthy of carrying the forbidden secret anymore,” the Eternal Guardian replied.
He turned around. Someone was approaching the barrier field. It took him seconds to see a group of people outside the area. “We have uninvited guests,” he murmured and signalled at the Narulian dragons. “Greet them, but don’t overdo it.”
The dragons roared and charged at the ‘uninvited guests’. Immediately the Aces and the Wind Talkers separated and headed to different directions, leaving the dragons to Keroko and the Wolkenritter.
“This is not a very good day for us, I guess,” Signum spoke and activated Levantine.
“Let’s kick ass,” Keroko added and turned to Tesla. “Shall we?” The fifth Knight nodded and activated Gungnir.
Nagalintar left the ‘guests’ to the greeters and continued approaching Hikki. “Do you have any last word?” The boy did not say anything but gasping for air. “Very well.” He lifted Huracan high over his head. “Farewell, son, and I’m sorry.”
The sword was swung.
And it hit invisible barrier, as Armstrong casted a Round Dome around the crippled boy. The Eternal Guardian turned around to see the Wind Talker giving him a deep glare as he walked towards him. “I suggest you to drop the weapon,” he warned.
“This doesn’t have anything to do with you, human,” Nagalintar spoke and opened another stance.
Armstrong took Forneus out of his sleeve. “We’ll see about that. Forneus, kenzan!” The Device transformed into Overdrive Form, and was brought close to the ground as Armstrong assumed a stance of his own. Realizing the battle was going to get hotter, Nagalintar jumped to the other side of the area and faced the Wind Talker.
“Waga na wa Jackson Armstrong. Aku o Tatsu Tsurugi Nari!”
Armstrong charged forward.
The Divine Buster fired, and half of the Narulian knights were knocked out of the Aces’ way. Nanoha ducked, and Fate jumped forward, delivering a hard vertical slash that sent one of the knights crashing into the ground. Hayate continued with a well-aimed Eis Sarg that prevented the knights from approaching the trio, allowing Subaru, Teana and Erio to launch attacks onto them.
“[Nanoha-san! Fate-san! Hayate-san! You must approach the Gale Whistler immediately. His vital reading is critically low.]”
“We can’t reach him right now!” Nanoha replied and dodged one of the knights’ attacks. “Got any suggestion, Yuuno-
Fate parried one knight’s attack with Bardiche Assault. “Nanoha-
, there’s no time for suggestion! We have to bring him out of this area!” she shouted and delivered a roundhouse onto the knight’s temple. “What do these people want from him in the first place?”
“[We don’t know of it yet. The only indication is that the man Armstrong-san is fighting with has attacked him. I’m afraid he was going to kill him.]”
“Kill?” Nanoha dodged one strayed dragon and sent it to the oblivion with Divine Buster. “We don’t have time for that! Subaru! Tea! Erio! Cover us!”
“Just leave this to us!” Subaru loaded Mach Calibur and pounced at the knights. “Kurae! REVOLVING KNUCKLE!!!”
Leaving the knights to their apprentices, the Aces approached the location and found Hikki lying on the ground. They gasped when her heart skipped after seeing the boy’s poor condition and could not imagine what had happened to him.
Nanoha knelt next to him. “…Patricia…” he was heard murmuring the nun’s name when she bent her head down. “Patricia? Who is this… Patricia?” she wondered. The boy continued whispering the name, groaning in pain when the wound opened and blood flowed out of his body.
“We’ve got to bring him out fast,” Hayate spoke.
Nanoha and Fate lifted the half-conscious Hikki on their shoulders, and began to leave the area when several knights escaped Subaru and Teana’s attack and charged at them. Immediately Fate let go off Hikki and fired Plasma Lancers at them. “Nanoha-
! Go! We’ll cover you!”
With great difficulty, Nanoha securely held Hikki close to her and flew away from the battlefield. “Hang on, Hikki. We’ll save you.”
“Oh? I don’t think you will go anywhere.”
Nanoha stopped on track. “Who’s that?” She looked around and saw a ghostly figure of a kimono-clad woman floating above her. “Who’s there?”
The mysterious woman descended and stopped several feet away from Nanoha.
“You have something that belongs to me,”
“Would you please give it to me?”
Realizing the woman was talking about Hikki, Nanoha backed off. “You don’t happen to be one of the knights, do you?”
The woman, instead, chuckled and produced two katanas out of thin air.
“Dear, I think you shouldn’t be acting rude in front of me.”
Without even a warning, the woman suddenly fired a Reppuken that sent Nanoha and Hikki crashing into the ground; if it wasn’t for the Holding Net she had cast, they would have sustained serious injury.
Nanoha recovered from the impact. She was alright, but was concerned of Hikki. “Are you alright?” The boy said nothing and continued whimpering in low voice.
“[Nanoha-san! His Linker Core reading has reached critical level! You have to bring him out here!]”
“Hold on! Did you just say Linker Core?” Nanoha asked. “Why wasn’t I told of this?”
“[I’m sorry, Nanoha-san, but we’ve only recently acquired the latest information on him.]”
Nanoha could not respond. Her focus was on the woman, who was slowly approaching them as she landed on the ground.
“[Nanoha-san, do you listen? You must take him away from the battlefield!]”
, I’ll be there in a moment. Please believe in me.” So saying she rested Hikki on the ground and cast a protective dome around the boy before she faced the woman. “What do you want from Hikki?” she demanded.
“I’m sorry if I made you angry,”
the woman mocked and fired another Reppuken that almost knocked Nanoha off the ground.
“As I had said earlier, the boy has something I want, and I’m going to take it back.”
“Not if I allow it,” Nanoha replied and pointed the Raising Heart at the woman. “If you want him, come on and take him.”
The woman giggled and opened a double-sword stance.
“Tell me your name first, dear.”
“Nanoha Takamachi,” Nanoha spoke. “Raising Heart. Full Drive.”
--“Alright. Load Cartridges.”--
The woman smiled.
“Nanoha… pleased to meet you.”
Seconds later the double swords were engulfed in dark blue gales not too dissimilar to Hikki’s dark gales. “I’m the Queen of Dark Gale,” she spoke.
Then she grinned. “Halcyon.”
