I got a different take on that one.
Ali will live through it all. Ali personifies everything CB is trying to change in the world, and thus he won't be killed, but changed in some way which will enable him to live in a new world. Or he'll sacrifies himself to enable that new world to exist. Not wanting to live in said world, but acknowledging the need for it to become reality.
Ali is beyond a simple revenge or death. I really think killing him off would be taking the easy way out.
