As far as symbolism goes, well, I'd have to go with Sheryl's earring, as watching the parallels between Episode 8 and Episode 24/25 just sends shivers up my spine.
I just loved how Sheryl had entrusted her most prized possession to Alto in the beginning, only for him to lose it - and when she entrusted it again to him without a second thought, and the implications that came with it, just... wow!
