Lol, how is Clare a better fighter when she controls herself? Her uncontrolled partially awakened self was able to stab through Duff's armor (right through his hand, just missing Riful's face), catch Duff's rod and shoot it back into his face, and she could outrun Rigardo. Clare is exponentially more powerful when she is uncontrolled. There is just the side effect of possibly killing people who are close to her.
