The shot was heard from Orimura Residence, and the girls go to check what is happening. Given that Orimura Madoka is serious about taking Ichika's life, most likely Ichika was not shot in the head, and perhaps tried to dodge the shot. Maybe he got badly injured, but no fatally, and he managed to stay alive, either by running or by Madoka excess of talking, and the girls arrive in time just to check the situation. At the very least, Houki will be to shocked to react, and the ones who are not frozen, drive Madoka away. Regardless of the state that Ichika is (maybe he wakes up in the hospital), he will be too shocked from this, either from the fact that someone wants to replace him, or the fact that there might be more family than he thought. He might react in too ways:

- pissed off, and perhaps doing what he hates, using strength as a means of violence, sadenning and pissing off the girls. the reason for this would be that, according to my appreciation of Ichika, his "PRIDE" (which is so important in any shonen hero) is being Chifuyu's brother

- acting like a coward, given anything that Madoka might have said to him to shake him, regarless of the veracity.

And of ccourse, he shal overcome this like any shonen, and go to the obvious battle field that will appear, to rescue the girls, and reafirm his new pride, which I suspect would be based not only in chifuyu, but in everyone.

Also, for this rescue, it would be too soon tio get another transformation in his IS, but perhaps Houki will be encouraged to finally getting the hang of her IS, showing that not everything comes from her machine

Of course, I don't think that vol. 7 will be the final one
