In AC4, you worked to oppress the populations under the orders of the corporations. While you were doing it, your mech emitted poisonous particles that did irreversible damage to the Earth and in the end very little of the Earth is habitatible thanks to you.

In ACfA, you played as another pilot who was partially responsible for killing said previous pilot who was desperately trying to atone by becoming the defender of the anti-establishment movement. Little did you know you were merely silencing the only person who knew about the situation and the final options was to participate in a false rebellion that will save humanity in the long run or to mercy kill humanity and be remembered as a genocidal maniac.

A Gundam series about one's loss of humanity will be very effective story.

Spoiler for Truth:

Towards the later half of AC4, you start to work towards stopping the companies, especially the one that started the Lynx War that was causing the widespread pollution. And even then you generally had the Primal Armor turned off in the populated areas. The majority of the pollution wasn't caused by the player.

And even before the Lynx War breaks out in the game, your goal is to bring in money and worth to the colony you live in so it doesn't get crushed underfoot by the corporations. The Raven had nothing to atone for and he certainly was no villain. As for AC4A, the Raven was still fighting against the Corporations, and it's ambiguous as to whether or not he dies--Fiona sure as hell doesn't act like he's dead.

If you're going to use examples, get the facts straight first.
