Thought I know a lot of people who either ignore him or hate him, Gremio from Suikoden 1 is probably at the top of my favorite game characters list. He's a wonderful character with a very touching past (and future, in the game...)

Luca Blight from Suikoden 2 also struck me as an awesome unique character, because it's not every day that an RPG villian isn't out to destroy the entire world just because he feels like it. Luca just had mental issues. ^_^;
