Indeed, Mashiro's dream with Miho is to marry when she voices a heroine in his manga. With Takagi their goal is to be no.1 mangaka. But with himself and his uncle his goal is to show you can be no.1 consecutively and make a living.
We sort of havn't seen him prove that yet. Plus it'd be nice to see what Mashiro and Miho are like after they're married.
And I don't really see how you can be no.1 within the 8 weeks. Feels like a copout if within that 8 weeks they're no.1 for 2 or 3 weeks. Eiji was no.1 for 20 consecutively.
Plus there are so many possible sidestories to write about, Hirumaru and Aoki's wedding, Miho's dad, Kaya's kid... Bakuman ending? I call rubbish. 2/3 through the story, that's more feasible. Plus the makers of Death Note make Bakuman remember?
unless you want a Negima ending....
