My point is:
Seed/GSD are essentially "critic proof": they both are very popular among the Japanese audience, but I don't know how the professional critics in Japan receive them.
Following the sequel rule, most of the time, the sequel won't be able to exceed the original's success, in terms of critical reception, but still financially (e.g., GSD, the second Transformers movie).
However, there are some exceptions (e.g., Zeta Gundam).
