It adds a bit of mystery and unknown to the story plus it allows for some unique scenario. Mind you some people do like that.
But of course, I'm only 2 chapters in so I'm not the best person to get an opinion on this. If I were to guess what part the body switching element would play, I suppose it could be used to get two characters to
'learn more about the other' by living their life through their eyes... Literally
