Trust me, I use my Nexus 4 since 25th of December 2012, and it's camera is below average. It is true that the back camera takes higher-resolution pictures than the front one, but this picture was taken by the back one. My dad uses a Sony Ericsson Xperia, which is an older device than a Nexus 4, but it still takes shots in better resolution.
Now, as Nexus 4 as an Android is currently competing with an iPhone 5 that is an iOS, we could expect a better result in camera as well. They were both released around at the same time, and Nexus 4 has many strong-points that are better than iPhone 5's, but camera is one of the rare features that does not go under them. Anyhow, I won't hate on anything here, I love my N4, doesn't matter how good it's camera is. :D
