The Stug III chose as the front liner cuz the extreme low silhouette height it helps to keep stay hidden from enemy pry.

German heavy tanks always victim from Allied air power and the slow performance cant escape from concentrate artillery barrage so they cant engage at open area even they counter attack they always failed from airpower and artillery. They found out the best for heavy tank is defensive mode. The Allied tankers always fear engaging head-on at the congested areas.
