What harmful side effects?
If we need better pesticides then we
make better pesticides. That's all there is to it. If you have an issue then deal with the issue. Don't then stretch it to "lets control the human population".
We CAN feed everyone. There is no food shortage, just unfair distribution and pricing.
If something harms us, we change it so it doesn't do that anymore. That's how humans do things. Any other decision is illogical.
