Honestly to satisfy us novel readers they will need to animate 2 volumes in 12 episodes
But even if it's 3-4 volumes for 12 episode they can still make a great adaption for anime only viewers without pissing off the novel readers as long as they get their priorities right(Which they don't most of the times)
Anything beyond that and it'd be a train wreck
