Now, I'm up to the start of chapter 9 in the VN and I have a few questions but If the answers involve spoilers that are answered in the this chapter or the next, feel free to just say "Wait and see"

Ok so since about chapter 6 Sern seemed to have just stopped showing up. They originally turned up and killed Mayuri and tried to capture the team on the 8/13. Then a few things got changed and they didn't turn up till 8/14. But since then there has been no sign, its like they have just given up on trying to get the time machine, despite some timelines going as far as 8/20. Have I missed some event that changed that suddenly made Sern stop caring?. Also didn't the Lab Mem's decide on the 13th that they were going to release the device to the world the next day, what happened to that plot thread?

Edit: Oh, this is for the original VN by the way. I think there is a second one so I just thought I should be clear.
