Acer on sale from Newegg for $120 on sale a while back and really like it. I care mostly about text sharpness since I spend most of my time writing or coding, so the 5ms response time doesn't matter to me. They have a 27" Acer with 1 ms response on sale now at $279 that might fit your needs. It gets good reviews, too:
