I get the feeling the last two chapters were meant to showcase just how important Shiki is for Makoto (in contrast to his third dream) If Makoto would only have Mio by his side during his visit in the demon's teritory it would have been a dplomatic disaster since Mio seems to have polished her 'trolling' ability and Lucia seems to be really easy to provoke.
